Zane Williams[1] was a member of Irving "Kid" Tannen's gang and worked at El Kid until the end of August 25, 1931.

Biography[]

As of June 13, 1931, Zane was drawing a poster of Trixie Trotter for El Kid and answered the door to the building when Marty (who was trying to save Arthur McFly) was knocking. He turned Marty away and resumed his job, while struggling to stay awake due to a cold.

Zane being nearsighted, had to keep his face close to the picture, which Marty (who snuck inside by hiding in a crate) exploited by pouring some chloroform in the ink. After applying the ink to the picture, Zane then passed out.

By August 25th of that year, Zane served drinks at El Kid. He also drew the caricature drawings of Kid's victims for the Wall of Fame. Zane demonstrated his talents to Marty by making a caricature sketch of him, and upon request drew a sketch of George (based on a photo that Marty had) with a hat on (resulting in a caricature of Arthur). When Danny Parker and Trixie cooperated with Marty to bring Kid to justice, Zane flipped a switch to make the speakeasy look like an ice cream parlor, but was arrested.

What became of him after 1931 is unmentioned, but he mentioned having plans for a job with his drawing skills as he was certain that prohibition would not last.[2]
