A street sign in Courthouse Square shows U.S. Highway 8.

U.S. Route 8 was a U.S. Highway that passed through downtown Hill Valley as of 1985. It passed north-south through town and into Courthouse Square where it intersected with U.S. Route 395.

Behind the scenes

  • The real U.S. 8 runs through northern Wisconsin with small portions in neighboring Minnesota and Michigan.
  • Interstate 8 in California runs through the southernmost portion of the state, from San Diego to Arizona via Imperial Valley. Interstate 8, like U.S. 8, does not connect to U.S. 395.  The two routes are 140 miles apart, with U.S. 395 ending with I-15 at Hesperia, and I-8 having an interchange with I-5 near San Diego.
