This list should give the form of the characters' names as they are listed in the closing credits of the film, or in the film itself, since this is the "B Canon" or primary source for their name. Many of the article titles are names given in the novelizations, by fans, or are the invention of the editors of this wiki, and are debatable. Therefore, these "official" character names should be the title of their article whenever possible, or otherwise linked to the article using a pipe (|) or a redirect (#REDIRECT). • Alright, but in the case of the African American family, I adjusted the links from the family to the individuals, as their names (except for Mom's) are given in the Part II novelization. The same goes for Lester. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:01, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
    • Well, ummmm, I still disagree. Everyone who visits this site has seen the movies and would use the character names given in the credits when discussing them. Very few people have read the books. Even in the novel, Lester was called the "scrawny kid" until it seemed as if the author got tired of the repetition and gave him a name after Biff woke up. The articles can be titled Lester, Loretta, etc. since we round out the characters there, but I think the names in the credits should be visible in this list, and redirected to the relevant article. I also prefer the form of the actors' names as given in the credits, not the IMDB form of their name (e.g. Flea). Western Union 08:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
      • I see what you mean. Yeah I just want to keep the article names to their best known names, but on this list we can create redirects. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
        • How about as a compromise, this List of cast members is out-of-universe, and displays the character's name/description strictly as listed in the film credits, since this is probably what the cast member put on his/her acting resume, while the List of individuals by actor is in-universe, and displays the character's name completely, taking in research from all sources? • Yes, that sounds much better. You may add on to that in-universe list. Besides having two lists is a big help when trying to cross-reference anyone. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:42, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
