The Hill Valley speakeasy was a Hill Valley establishment selling illegal alcoholic beverages during the Prohibition era. It was discreetly located on Courthouse Square.

History Edit

The speakeasy was established in the early years of the American Prohibition era as a method for the local people to consume alcohol in private without any attention from the Hill Valley Police. By 1931, the business was run by Kid Tannen.

The establishment was later followed by the formation of the Stay Sober Society which opposed the dealing and consumption of alcohol. Its founder, Edna Strickland, took the more extreme method of setting fire to speakeasys.

In the June of 1931, the speakeasy was destroyed by Edna. The only witness of the crime was Emmett Brown who was found unconscious but arrested and charged for the attack. The arrest subsequently triggered the automatic retrieval system of the DeLorean time machine sending it forward to 1986 to Marty McFly.

In February 1932, the ruins of the speakeasy were replaced by a new building which would later become Zales and eventually Valley Video by 1986.

Originally the identity of the arsonist was a mystery, but due to Marty's interference, Edna's actions were revealed to Danny Parker on October 13, 1931 and she was arrested the later in the evening after returning from July 17, 1876.
