Railroad workers were a large part of the United States infrastructure during the 1800s. The first railroad workers laid down tracks in the 1810s, with the issue of the early railroad charters. Tracks were completed and service began in the 1930s. By the peak of the railroad industry in the early 1900s, there were over 200,000 miles of track laid in the United States.

Railroad workers finished construction of a bridge across the Shonash Ravine in Summer 1887.

In the 1890s, Doc hired a group of railroad workers to lay down fifty yards of track as part of his experiment with recreating time travel with his Jules Verne Train.
