This article covers a subject that has been deemed non-canon by either the author or the Back to the Future licensees, and thus should not be taken as a part of the "real" Back to the Future universe.

Mr. Friedman was a banker whom Doc Brown arranged to sign a contract with in order to keep the Institute of Future Technology open. However, as Brown prepared to sign Friedman's contract, Friedman was accidentally run over and killed by Professor Frink with a DeLorean time machine. Doc was forced to sell the institute to Krusty the Clown, who turned it into Krustyland, due to Friedman's death.
