Marc McClure (born March 31, 1957) is an American actor who played the role of Dave McFly in Back to the Future.

History[]

Marc is an American actor who's best known for playing as Boris in the Disney movie "Freaky Friday" 1976 as well as the second Disney remake of "Freaky Friday" 2003.

Also Marc played as Scott in the BYU Mormon church video "The Phone Call" 1977, in Provo, Utah.

Marc is also well known for portraying Jimmy Olsen (who has been depicted in animated shows and movies by David Kaufman) in Superman (1978) and its three sequels, as well as Supergirl. He is the only actor to appear in all five films. He later appeared in the documentaries Taking Flight: The Development of Superman and Making Superman: Filming the Legend on the 2001 release of Superman: The Movie.

Along with Wendie Jo Sperber, McClure had been cast by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale in two earlier films, I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978) and Used Cars (1980). McClure had played characters named "Dubois" in both films.

He reprised the character of Dave McFly in Back to the Future Part II, but the scene (in which Marty encounters a drunken Dave in front of Biff's Pleasure Palace in the alternate 1985) was cut. He was brought back for Back to the Future Part III, where he was seen again as Marty's older brother Dave.

McClure made an appearance in the Superman series Smallville. His role in the Season 7 episode "Persona" (2008) saw him as a Kryptonian scientist Dax-Ur. He also appeared in the Season 7 DVD featurette Jimmy on Jimmy where he had a discussion with other actors who played the character Jimmy Olsen.
