Portrait of Isaac Newton in Doc's mansion.

Newton was one of three horses named by Dr. Emmett Brown in 1885, along with Galileo and Archimedes.

He was named after the 17th/18th century English physicist/mathematician Isaac Newton, a portrait of whom hung in Doc's mansion in 1955.

• In Back to the Future Part II first draft screenplay, Doc had a dog named Newton in 1967.
