Female president
In 2015, there was a female president of the United States. In the newspaper for October 21, she told the media that she was tired of answering the same questions. Accordingly, she would have had to been elected in either 2008 or 2012, assuming the normal election cycle.
Behind the scenes
Edit
- As of 2009, the only woman mentioned as a possible candidate for the presidency was former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Hillary Clinton, who had run for the Democratic nomination in 2008 and would be appointed by President Obama as the Secretary of State, was not viewed as likely to challenge Obama in his 2012 bid for re-election.
- Michele Bachmann sought the Republican nomination for president in the 2012 election, but abandoned her campaign on January 4th, 2012. Since there are no other female viable candidates left, this suggests that a woman will definitely not be President of the United States by 2015.
- One possible way for a woman to still be President in 2015 is if President Obama or his challenger in 2012 has a female Vice President and then dies in office or resigns during his term, allowing the Vice President to assume the presidency.
