Emmett Brown possessed a Henry rifle which he converted to a sniper rifle by the use of a large telescope that he had mounted to the top of the gun as a sight. Doc used it to cut down the rope that had been hanging Marty McFly, thus ceasing the celebration of Buford Tannen and his gang. He then pointed it directly at Buford's head and threatened to blow it off unless his boys dropped their weapons and released Marty.
