Steam time car

The diving suit hangs by chains near the steam time car in Doc's workshop.

A diving suit was an article of clothing that protected the wearer from underwater environments.

It was initially developed in the 18th century, but by the 19th century its design had been much improved.

In 1893, after Emmett Brown's first time travel attempt with the Jules Verne Train failed, he began to develop a steam vehicle as a method of time travel. Unfortunately, since the steam time car would inherently not have any kind of roof, the driver would be exposed to the freezing temperatures experienced during time travel. As a result, Doc used a diving suit to protect himself as he journeyed to the year 2035, and later during the first use of the time parachute.

In 1931, Jacques Douteux wore a diving suit at the Hill Valley Science Exposition. First Citizen Brown later used this to his advantage as he impersonated Douteux.
