David Stern Crockett (August 17, 1786 - March 6, 1836), was an American folk hero of the 19th century.

Biography

Crockett married Polly Finley in 1812, and died at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836.

In 1954, Walt Disney produced a television miniseries based on Davy Crockett as part of his Walt Disney anthology television series, which was later edited together as the 1955 movie Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier.

During Marty McFly's first visit to 1955, he heard the movie's theme song, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett", played on the jukebox in Lou's Cafe.

Milton Baines liked to wear a coonskin cap of the kind sported by Crockett, a fad inspired by the aforementioned television show and movie.
