D.W. Tannen was a Hollywood movie producer in the 1920s that was considered rather unscrupulous.

History[]

D.W. Tannen attempted to exploit would-be child actor "Daredevil Brown".

When discussing that he had no intent to replace Emmett with a dummy in the barrel, he gave the mixed metaphor about how the event had to look like "the real MacDonald" instead of "the real McCoy".

He would often fire people he was at odds with, even if they didn't work for him: he fired Marty when he questioned his claim that he'd replace Emmett with the dummy, threatening to fire Emmett if he didn't get ready for the stunt, firing his assistant when he corrected his "MacDonald" with "McCoy", firing Marty (yet again) when he fell off a tree on him, unimpressed with Marty's performance as tightrope walking, he asked to be reminded "to fire this creep", and finally firing Emmett's manager, Uncle Oliver, when he rejected his new contract.
