"Clay is from a timeline where Clara Clayton survived the ravine, and yet never met Doc Brown. Instead she ends up with Marshall Strickland (or maybe his brother or uncle) and after a few generations we find a guy named Clay Strickland who somehow gets involved in the unwritten future adventures that tie all these characters together. Clay is from a family of teachers, lawmen, and school administrators, so he's not going to tolerate any slackers!"
—Back to the Future: The Card Game FAQ

Clay Strickland was a possible descendant of Mr. Strickland.

Details[]

In the card game, Clay Strickland's first task is to alter the timeline to cause Emmett Brown to be murdered by Libyans in 1985, preventing his arrival in 1885. His second is to ensure Clara Clayton survives and that the ravine be named Eastwood Ravine. Then his third is to ensure the Biff Tannen of 2015 gives the almanac to his 1955 self, to ensure Emmett Brown gets committed. It's possible that Clay is a descendent of 1985A Mr. Strickland.

Behind the scenes[]

  • As the card game in which this person appears deals with a series of alternate universes, this character cannot be considered film canon.
