These sources combined have provided a detailed explanation for how time travel works in the Back to the Future universe:
Every time someone travels through time, a new timeline is created that branches off from the last timeline.[1] This creates a ripple effect in the time stream.[2] Any major changes that would effect the life of the time traveler are slowed, as the time traveler is temporarily protected by a time bubble.[3] Traveling behind these changes slows the deterioration of the time bubble,[4] whereas traveling past these changes accelerates it.[5]
The ripple travels backward through time as well as forward, allowing the time traveler to see their own future,[6] before the time ripple catches up to them and the bubble protecting them pops.[7]
Once the time bubble pops, the timelines merge and the time traveler's counterpart from the alternate timeline merges as well, with the new timeline reflecting the time traveler's counterpart's actions in the past, but continuing from the actions of the time traveler in the present and future.[8] The exception to this is when the time traveler creates a timeline where they no longer exist. Once the time bubble pops in that scenario, the time traveler completely fades from existence.[9]
Each jump back in time creates a new timeline. Note that each timeline includes everything in the previous timelines except where deviations occur.
Date unknown: 11-year-old Clara comes down with diphtheria and is quarantined for three months. As a result, her father places a telescope next to her bed for her to use, which sparks her lifelong interest in astronomy and science. [17]
Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen shoots twelve men, not including Indians or Chinamen, before the end of this year according to a newspaper article. The article has no follow-ups because Tannen killed its editor for writing an unfavorable report about him. [20]
Saturday, September 5: The Hill Valley Festival. As part of Hill Valley’s anniversary festivities, the new courthouse clock is started at exactly 8:00 p.m. PST. Photographs with the clock are offered to townspeople wishing to pose with the new timepiece. The clock will remain in faithful service to Hill Valley for the next seven decades.
Date unknown: Marty's grandfather and George's father, Arthur McFly is born. During American involvement in World War I (1917-1918), he is 16 years old when he volunteers for the U.S. Army. [23]
Friday, April 6: The United States declares war on Germany. Due to hostility against German-Americans during World War I, Doc's father changes his family's name from "Von Braun" to "Brown". [24]
Date unknown: Arthur McFly joins the U.S. Army and is shipped over to France, but is not sent into combat. When it is discovered that he is only 16 years old, he is sent home. [26]
Emmett Brown works as a law clerk, as his father is a judge and is against his scientific pursuit.
Frankenstein plays at the Town Theater. Emmett Brown sees it, and is inspired. This solidifying his desire to become a professional scientist, even though it goes against his father's wishes.
Tuesday, August 25: Trixie Trotter turns on Irving "Kid" Tannen after being instructed in accounting by Arthur McFly, and noticing that Kid never paid taxes on the earnings from his speakeasy. Tannen is subsequently arrested by Officer Danny Parker, who is promoted to detective shortly thereafter.
Mid—Late 1931: The Hill Valley mayoral elections are held.[28]
Sunday, December 6: Kid Tannen, going by Thomas Tannen after being released from prison, married Myra Benson. Kid gave his mother custody of Biff, and to make it look like Biff wasn't born out of wedlock, he had a fake birth certificate made that states Biff was born in 1937.
Biff Tannen and his gang pick on George McFly at Lou's Cafe. Biff warns George never to go into Lou's Cafe again. Although Goldie Wilson urges George to stand up for himself, George ignores the advice.
George rides his bike to the Baines residence and spies on Lorraine Baines undressing. He falls from the tree, and Sam Baines hits him with his car. Lorraine cares for George while he's hurt, and develops a crush on him, feeling that he was like a little lost puppy.
Doc Brown slips off his toilet whilst hanging a clock and has a vision of the flux capacitor.[35]
George and Lorraine kiss for the first time at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance at Hill Valley High School. It is at that moment that Lorraine realizes that she is going to spend the rest of her life with George McFly.
10:04 p.m.: Lightning strikes the clock tower at precisely 10:04 p.m., damaging and stopping the seven-decade-old timepiece.
Thursday, October 25: Doc had regrets, coupled with worries about ushering in an arms race through time, in the same way he helped usher in the nuclear arms race through his participation in the Manhattan Project. He used his prototype temporal field capacitor to send a letter through time to himself since he knew that it lacked a means to prevent overheating due to the overload of flux energy. He sent it to the beginning of August, when he knew he and his dog were safe in the fireproof lab in his garage.
Wednesday, August 1: Doc receives a message from himself from two months into the future, delivered through time by his prototype temporal field capacitor. The build-up of flux energy created by sending an object so far into the past caused Doc's mansion to be destroyed by the resulting fire. The fireproof garage is the only surviving structure, and Doc moves into it.
Wednesday, October 24: Upon seeing the charred remains of the mansion, Lomax and Groves came and left, without ever talking to Doc, when Goldie Wilson informed them that most people in Hill Valley viewed him as an insurance thief.
Wednesday, October 25: Doc no longer had a working temporal field generator to send himself a message, and it isn't explicitly stated, but since Doc is worried about creating paradoxes it is likely he sent a letter to himself on August 1st in this timeline at some point as well.
Sunday, October 28: The Cuban Missile Crisis resolved itself, but Groves and Lomax were determined to find someone to build a time machine since the crisis nearly got out of hand.

Doc is awarded insurance money when the investigation into the cause of the fire is ruled to be inconclusive. He uses this money to fund his inventions, including the improved temporal field generator Mk II. This new model still only works within the machine's lifespan, but it allows travel into the past without overheating. Doc was careful not to use this device too much, as one test nearly resulted in the destruction of the fabric of reality.
Lomax and Groves went to another scientist, Marcus Irving, letting him believe that he was their first choice for the project. Irving agreed to the project, and spent the next 24 years unsuccessfully working on time travel.
Date unknown: Riverside Drive, the street of Doc Brown's residence, is renamed John F. Kennedy Drive in honor of the recently assassinated United States president.
Date unknown: Doc sells off the rest of the land, where his mansion was located before it burned down, to commercial developers. Only his garage remains.[43]
Date unknown: 8-year-old Marty accidentally sets fire to the living room rug. His parents don 't go easy on him. <ref>from ''[[Back to the Future]]'' </ref>
Date unknown: Pepsi Free, the drink Marty tries to order in 1955, is introduced.[44]
Saturday, October 2: Marty sneaks into Doc Brown's garage in an attempt to get an interocitor tube to replace the one Douglas J. Needles broke. Doc is impressed with Marty's ingenuity in solving the traps Doc set to keep people out of his garage, as well as Marty's honesty in admitting that he sneaked into the garage for the tubes. He hires Marty as his assistant. According to the original Part I script, Doc hired Marty to sweep his garage. Doc gave Marty total access to his record collection, and they became friends.
Sunday, May 22: Ronald Reagan announces he will run for a second term in office.
Date unknown: Marty sneaks out of his house at night to meet his friends, and his mother hears the sound of a skateboard and comes after him in the car. Marty recalls the incident when he sneaks out again two years later. [45]
8:18 a.m. Openings titles of "Back to the Future." All the clocks are set 25 minutes slow, displayed incorrectly as 7:53 a.m.
8:25 a.m. Doc asks Marty to meet him at Twin Pines Mall at 1:15 a.m. next morning.
Marty arrives to school late, then fails his audition with his band, The Pinheads, later after school.
Marty admires a black Toyota Hilux 4X4 on a flatbed truck at the Texaco gas station.
A woman asks Marty for a donation to preserve the non-functioning clock tower, handing him a flyer containing specific date and time details about the lightning strike to the clock. Marty puts the flyer in his pocket.
Lorraine's brother Joey fails to make parole again.
1:20 a.m. Einstein becomes the first time traveler in the world by departing one minute into the future. (This time jump does not create a new timeline. Timelines are only created by going back in time. Einstein merely moves one minute forward. The Doc states this is the case with timelines in the blackboard scene in Part II.)
The DeLorean's time circuits as they appeared one minute after the first demonstration.
1:21 a.m. Einstein arrives at one minute into the future.
Marty McFly arrives from the year 1985 and crashes into the barn at Otis Peabody's ranch. Peabody's son, Sherman, thinks Marty is an alien and Otis chases him out. Marty knocks down one of Old Man Peabody's two pine trees. Peabody later reported that he saw an "alien", but was declared insane and was sent to the County Asylum.
After meeting the teenage counterpart of his father at Lou's cafe, Marty follows him.
Sam Baines accidentally hits Marty with his car. Calling himself Calvin Klein after the name printed on his underwear, Lorraine wants "Calvin" to stay the night until he feels better.
Marty hastily leaves the Baines residence and seeks out Doc Brown. He explains how Doc got the bruise from the accident that he had earlier in the day, and shows him the DeLorean time machine. Doc agrees to help him get back to 1985.
Sunday, November 6: Doc realizes that Marty has interfered with his parents' first meeting and that he and his siblings will be erased from existence unless Marty can get them together. He tells Marty that it is imperative that they get back together, and helps Marty in doing that as he works on his plan to use the Hill Valley lightning strike that Marty told him about to send Marty back to 1985.
If this timeline were allowed to continue, Lorraine would have went on a date with Biff on Saturday, November 23, 1963, and they would have married at some point afterward. Biff would become George's boss, and Dave, Linda, and Marty McFly wouldn't have been born. Instead, Biff and Lorraine would have a daughter named Buffy Tannen, who would have worked at CusCo at some point in the 21st century.[47]
Monday, November 7: Marty, as "Calvin Klein", goes to Hill Valley High School to try and get George and Lorraine together, but she has developed a crush on Marty instead of George.
Marty, wearing a radiation suit and describing himself as "Darth Vader, an extra-terrestrialnbsp;from the planet Vulcan", visits George in the middle of the night, to try and convince him to take Lorraine to the dance that Saturday.
Marty defeats Biff Tannen in a skateboard chase around Courthouse Square, causing Biff and his gang to crash into a parked manure truck.
Wednesday, November 9: Marty decides to take Lorraine to the dance, but comes up with a plan for Saturday night that will see George become a "fighter" for Lorraine.
Marty takes Lorraine to the dance, but Marty is thrown into a trunk by Biff's gang. Biff tries to assault Lorraine, but George punches Biff, saving Lorraine and causing her to fall in love with him.
Marvin calls up his cousin Chuck and holds up the telephone so he can hear Marty playing the song that he had yet to publish.
George pushes a classmate out of the way when he tries to cut in when George and Lorraine are dancing, and they kiss, falling in love with each other.
At the clock tower, Marty tries to give Doc a note warning him about his death in 1985, however Doc tears it up and tells him to get to the starting point.
At 10:04pm, lightning strikes the clock tower at the precise moment the DeLorean hit 88 m.p.h., successfully sending 1.21 gigawatts of electricity into the lightning rod Doc attached to the DeLorean's nuclear reactor, sending Marty back to 1985.
Thursday, October 25: Doc's fears about ushering an arms race through time are intensified, as he now knows that his experiments will be a success. He has a nightmare about Marty returning in the DeLorean, speaking Russian. In his dream, they travel to the 1980s, however there are elements from several time periods present and nuclear bombs are dropping from the sky. Just before he wakes up from his nightmare, his vision of Marty disappears, leaving only the down vest that he was wearing when they first met.
At 1:24 a.m, Marty returns from his first trip to 1955, eight days older. He runs from Courthouse Square over to what is now the Lone Pine Mall, and discovers that Doc lived because he wore a bulletproof vest. He reassembled the letter that Marty had written him in 1955.
Doc drops Marty off home, and Marty goes to bed. Doc then travels in the DeLorean from 1985 to 2015.
Marty wakes up in the morning and finds that the interior of his house has changed, and the lives of his family members have also improved, due to his altering the events of his mother and father's first meeting each other in 1955. His father is now a successful writer, his mother is no longer an alcoholic, his brother works at an office instead of at Burger King, and his sister is now more popular. He also discovers that he owns the Toyota 4x4 that he dreamed of owning, and that he planned to use it to take Jennifer to the lake.
To get the money he needed for this and the Mr. Fusion, which he could use to more reliably power the nuclear reactor in his DeLorean, he searched the internet at the Hill Valley Public Library for the best investment to make.
Doc then traveled in the DeLorean from 2015 to 1938.
Thursday, October 22: Marty Jr. is tried, sentenced and convicted to 15 years in the state penetentary for the robbery.
Wednesday, October 28: Marty's daughter Marlene attempts to break her brother out of prison. She is sentenced to 20 years in jail, and later commits suicide while in prison.
Doc travels further into 2015, to learn as much as he can about Marty Jr.'s meeting with Griff on October 21.
Eventually, Doc leaves 2015 for 1985 to pick up Marty.
Doc Brown, Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker arrive in 2015 to save Marty McFly, Jr. from being set up for a crime by Griff Tannen.
Marty poses as Marty Jr. and manages to change future history for the better by causing Griff and his gang to crash into the Courthouse Mall, which has been converted from the Hill County Courthouse, still including the non-working clock tower. The gang is subsequently arrested.
The 47-year-old Marty, dared by Needles, illegally lets Needles scan his card, and subsequently gets fired by Mr. Fujitsu.
Biff Tannen steals the DeLorean time machine with the sports almanac in hand. Not knowing how it works, he hits the time circuits with his cane, and the DeLorean travels to an unknown date in the past when it reaches 88 m.p.h.
Friday, October 23: Queen Diana visits Washington, D.C. according to the October 22, 2015 issue of USA Today (of course, in reality, the princess died in 1997).
(Note that Biff's carelessness in the Cretaceous Period can explain the large differences in dating of time periods, compared to real life, in Back to the Future: The Ride and Forward to the Past.)
Date unknown: Biff arrives at a time when the area that would become Hill Valley was covered by the Pacific Ocean. He sees the shoreline in the distance, and lands the DeLorean in a forest. He tries to find organic material to put in the Mr. Fusion, as the nuclear reactor light is flashing the warning that it is empty. A baby raptor steals the Blast from the Past bag that holds Grays Sports Almanac, and Biff kills it by hitting it in the head with his cane. He puts the raptor in the Mr. Fusion and travels forward in time to 1955.
Date unknown: Dinosaurs still lived on Earth. The meteor that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs occurred this year, and lemon trees existed in the area that would become Hill Valley, possibly due to a butterfly effect caused by Biff's contamination of the space-time continuum.
Morning. 78-year-old Biff Tannen arrives from 2015 with Gray's Sports Almanac in hand. After hiding the DeLorean in an undetermined location, he then ventures into town to locate his younger self, who has just survived an automotive encounter with a manure truck, creating a lasting memory. As old Biff recalls correctly, his younger self will have to pick up his car from Western Auto later that afternoon.
After an argument with Terry over the $302.57 bill, young Biff approaches Lorraine, who, accompanied by Babs, has just picked up her outfit for the dance from Ruth's Frock Shop. As he boasts to her that he will marry her someday, she rebuffs his advances. Biff is then about to jump into his car to drive home and get ready for the evening, when he encounters an elderly stranger occupying the driver’s seat. Although the stranger is mysteriously able to start the car, which no-one can do except Biff himself, Biff apparently fails to recognize him as his older self, who then informs him that "Today’s your lucky day."
The elderly Biff, entirely in secret, demonstrates the power of the almanac and convinces his younger self to hold on to it and to "keep it in a safe". He also informs him to kill anyone who has knowledge about the almanac, specifically "some kid" or "a crazy, wild-eyed old man who claims to be a scientist" (referring to Marty and Doc, respectively).
6:38 p.m. The elderly Biff departs 1955 to return the DeLorean undetected, not realizing his younger self might eventually lose the almanac. Doc Brown will fail to notice Old Biff’s departure time on the time readouts in the DeLorean, having distracted himself with thoughts of women and the old West.
Biff drives his grandmother to Las Vegas so she can play the slot machines.
Since he was only seventeen, he couldn't bet, so he gave money to his grandmother to bet on the Chicago Bears at the Turf Club.
Two hours later, while eating at a diner, Biff learned that she didn't bet on the Bears, and lost, making Biff twenty dollars poorer. Biff told her to make another bet, on the Washington Redskins. The Redskins won the game, however she only gave Biff back his twenty dollars, and kept the rest for himself. When Gertrude claimed Biff was as greedy as his father, Biff stated that he learned that from her. She then returned to play the slot machines.
Outside of the Turf Club, Biff was approached by a shady man named Uncle Lou, who saw Biff using the almanac to tell his grandmother which teams to pick. He killed Gertrude, and put her in the back of his car to bury her. He planned to steal the almanac, kill Biff, and bury him next to her. However, when he went to hit Biff with a tire iron, Biff caught it and killed him instead. Biff justified the murder in his mind based on the fact that Lou had killed his grandmother.
That night, Biff buried Lou, and took all of the money that was in his briefcase.
With the money, he went to Al's Photography and paid to cover up the murder of Gertrude by having a death certificate forged that stated she died of natural causes.
Thirty-six hours after he paid for the death certificate, two officers from the Hill Valley Police Department arrived at the Tannen residence to let Biff know that the executor would be by shortly to work everything out, and offered condolences for the death of his grandmother.
Outside Hill Valley High School, Lorraine Baines offered her condolences for the loss of his grandmother, and Biff tried to proposition her, before clumsily trying to apologize for his actions at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
Biff then tried to use the death of his grandmother as an excuse to Principal Strickland for his repeated absences. When Strickland told him he would be repeating his senior year for the third time, Biff tried to bribe him with some of Lou's money. Strickland then expelled him from school, and Biff stated that he intended to drop out.
Wednesday, October 14: Biff Tannen wins another large sum of money at a sports event. He is seen smiling on the cover page of the next day's edition of the Hill Valley Telegraph.
Dates unknown: Biff Tannen wins again and again, gaining the nickname, "The Luckiest Man On Earth." After a member the press tells him that he could win big in Vegas, Biff tells him that he's already been there and that he's going to Hollywood.
The Hill Valley Telegraph reports the murder of George McFly.
Friday, December 25: After the seventh year straight of receiving presents from Biff, George McFly states that it needs to stop. Lorraine wants to leave Hill Valley, but George convinces her to let the family stay as he doesn't want to take the children away from their grandparents.
After an elderly Biff Tannen made himself rich by traveling back to 1955 to give his younger self a Grays Sports Almanac, his younger self became a millionaire by gambling as he knew the results before they happened. With his wealth, Biff wanted a mansion in Hill Valley. He barged into the Hill Valley City Council meeting, and demanded that his mansion plans be approved. Council member Goldie Wilson stated that the decision had to be unanimous, but Stanford S. Strickland vocally disapproved of the plans.
After an attempt at bribing Strickland didn't work, Biff and his gang, Match, Skinhead and 3-D, got drunk and devised a plan to get back at Vice Principal Strickland.
Vice Principal Strickland received a box of cigars with a card that claimed they were from someone that thanked him for standing up to Biff Tannen. He lit one in his office at the Hill Valley High School, and Biff took a photograph of him through the window. The cigar exploded in his face, and his office caught on fire. He tried to use a fire extinguisher to put the fire out, but Biff rigged it to accelerate the flames instead. Strickland rushed all of the teachers and students out of the school, and Biff sent the photograph to the authorities.

The Hill Valley Telegraph published the photograph of Vice Principal Strickland smoking the cigar in his office. S.S. Strickland was suspended from the city council pending an investigation into the fire.
With Strickland off the council, Biff's mansion plans were approved.
Using his wealth, Biff paid to have a mansion built. When it was completed, he held a ceremony which awarded Lorraine Baines McFly "Mother of the Year for 1972". However, Biff revealed that the ceremony was just a ruse to get Lorraine to show up to his mansion. Sam Baines was amazed at Biff's wealth, and tells Lorraine could have married Biff if he hit him with his car instead of "that other kid".
Biff Tannen's second wife left him when she found a fallout shelter full of statues and portraits of Lorraine underneath Biff's mansion. An IRS agent entered the fallout shelter and convinced Biff to create a corporation in order to benefit the Nixon administration, which would give the president deniability.
Thursday, March 15: George was to receive a book award from the Hill Valley Civic Committee. However, he never made it to the ceremony, as he was murdered by Biff Tannen in an alleyway.[55]

Biff Tannen married Lorraine Baines McFly, who agreed to marry him in order to help her family, who had fallen on hard times due to the policies of BiffCo.
The Hill Valley Telegraph posted a story about Red being arrested for George's murder on the front page, with an article about Biff's wedding to Lorraine inside the paper. This infuriated Biff, as he felt the wedding should be on the front. He immediately placed a call to prepare his jet, so he could purchase The Washington Post and rename it The Biffington Post.
Three days later, Richard Nixon personally offered his thanks for stopping the articles about Watergate, and told Biff that he owed him. Biff asked for help running the paper, and Nixon told him that he'd send his own men there to work on the paper to keep Biff's hands clean (although Biff thought he was talking about the ink on the paper).
Biff learned about the 22nd amendment to the United States Constitution that forbade a president for holding office for more than two four year terms, so he bet on sporting events in order to gain money to bribe state legislators, resulting in the repeal of the 22nd amendment.
Biff and Lorraine attend the President's inaugural ball with Richard and Pat Nixon.
Frank Sinatra tells Biff that his friends in Las Vegas will no longer take bets from him. He gives Biff advice, telling him that if he "can't beat the house, be the house". Biff misunderstands, telling Frank that he's been buying up property for years.
Thursday January 27: After Biff and his gang are refused to place bets at several places, Skinhead tells Biff that "you can't beat the house". Biff realizes what Frank meant, and calls Nixon.
Nixon tells Biff that he might be able to sway the California legislators if the gambling law is restricted to one county, but warns him that it might take a few years.
Gambling is extended to other counties as the state of California legalizes gambling.
Hill Valley High School is burned down by vandals. Its burnt-out remains are subsequently surrounded by a chain-link fence topped with barbwire and bearing a NO TRESPASSING sign from the Hill Valley Police Department.
Mr. Strickland took a job at another school.
The legal drinking age is reduced to fourteen years thanks in part to Biff 's lobbying.
Biff complains that his head on the hotel sign has to be bigger, and wants ten stories added on top of Tannen Tower.
After the latest remodel of Tannen Manor, Biff removed all pictures of George McFly from the house, angering George's son Dave, who refuses to be known as Dave Tannen.
Dave McFly joins the Hill Valley Civic Committee, which is led by Goldie Wilson after George's death. Dave revealed that his stepfather, Biff, kept a safe in his office.
Friday: Dave turned off the security alarms to allow Terry to enter to break into the safe. However, Biff witnessed the attempt to break into the safe, and had the Hill Valley Police Department, which he controlled, beat him to death. Biff then had them kidnap Dave, and since he promised Lorraine he wouldn't hurt her children, he had them tell Dave to leave Hill Valley and never return.
Fearing for the safety of the other children, Lorraine convinces Biff to send Marty and Linda to boarding schools. Marty is sent to school in Switzerland.
Saturday, April 30: Terry's funeral held, with a closed casket, as his body was badly beaten.
Lorraine is worried about Marty, as he is not returning her calls, and the school can't contact him either.
Emmett Brown revealed that to the Hill Valley Civic Committee that he was their silent benefactor. He let them know that he had let the rumors that surrounded him since his time on the Manhattan Project continue so that he could work on his project in peace, even from BiffCo.
Doc unveiled his project, the time travel chamber, which was created from a 1952SearsColdspot refrigerator. Since the only way to reliably get power was to hack into the city's power grid, the 1.21 gigawatts necessary for time travel could not be sourced. Instead, Doc cut some corners in order to allow it to function.
The 465.3 megawatt capacity of the power grid would be converted to flux capacitanceenergy, which would send the time traveler to the date set on the time circuits displayed on a meter inside the chamber door. The limitations of using less than half of the energy needed to properly power the chamber meant that there was only four hours of flux energy available before the time bubble protecting the time traveler would burst. This would cause the time traveler to fade from existence in the past and re-appear back in the chamber in the present
Stanford S. Strickland recalled a time that, while he was attending Hill Valley Elementary School, Biff was going to be sent to a military academy in Idaho after assaulting other children for the third or fourth time. He remembered the date, May 16, 1946, as it was the day after he celebrated his birthday.
Doc connected the chamber to the power grid, and used his JVC camcorder to capture the moment. Stanford S. Strickland, wearing a suit that his father owned, stepped into the chamber and disappeared into the past. The remaining members of the Hill Valley Civic Committee unhooked the chamber and put it in a truck to get away before Biff realized where the blackout occurred.
Mr. Strickland arrived from 1983. He walked to the school, and witnessed Biff picking on a smaller child. George McFly stuck up for the child, and Biff punched George, causing his nose to bleed. Lorraine Baines informed a senior teacher, Miss Hodges, about the bullying, just as the younger Strickland apprehended Biff, after calling him a slacker.
The elder Strickland tried to stop Miss Hodges from intervening, but he was surprised to find out that she was the one who wanted to ship Biff to Idaho, and his younger self stopped her as he believed that Biff could become a good student with the proper guidance.
The elder Strickland couldn't do anything else to change things, as he was accused of being a "sex herbert" by the young Biff, and Miss Hodges thought that might be true, as he did touch her when he tried to stop her from interfering.
Devastated that he had changed his own memory as he didn't want to admit to himself that he was the reason why Biff remained in Hill Valley, Strickland walked to an alley, so he wouldn't be seen disappearing by any bystanders, and sat in a crouched position with his head in his lap until time ran out.
The civic committee met again, commenting that no one had been able to reach Strickland since the incident, and he hadn't reported in to the school either (it's unknown which school he was working for, as Hill Valley High School burned down in 1979 and wasn't rebuilt until at least some point after 1985). He blamed himself for everything and didn't want to interact with anyone.
The committee decided that the best attempt to stop Biff would be to prevent him from being born, by stopping the wedding of his parents. The only problem was that no records were available before 1950, since everything was lost after Biff bulldozed the Hill Valley Courthouse to build his casino and hotel. Goldie Wilson realized that they would be able to determine the date by going to the Biff Tannen Museum inside Biff's casino.

Upon arriving at the museum, Doc Brown was required to buy a cigarette and hold it in his hand, due to the museum's "smoking required" policy. He was already disgusted by the museum, but he pressed himself to go on. He learned that Biff's parents, Myra Benson and Kid Tannen (going by Thomas Tannen after being released from prison), married at the Hill Valley Church of the Heather on December 6, 1936.
Doc went back to the committee, and they developed a plan. Doc would arrive at the wedding, and object to the marriage, stating that the bride is already married to his son "Melvin", and that he thinks that she is pregnant. The committee then travels once again to the power grid, where the chamber is hooked up. Doc enters the chamber, disappearing into the past, and the city's power goes out again. This time Biff demands his gang to stop whoever is causing the blackouts. The Hill Valley Civic committee can't disconnect the wires from the power grid, and are apprehended by the police.
Doc arrives from 1983, and takes a taxi to the church. He is about to object to the wedding, when he hears a baby crying. When the babysitter calls him Biff, Doc realizes he made a mistake. Myra had become pregnant earlier that year. Kid wanted her to have an abortion, but she wouldn't do it, as it was illegal, and she felt that her mother would kill her if she did.
Kid and Myra married simply for the purpose of making it seem like Biff wasn't born out of wedlock. The two parted ways immediately after the wedding, and neither parent wanted Biff. Because of this, Kid's mother, Gertrude Tannen, took custody of him. Before he left his son, Kid gave Gertrude a forged birth certificate that stated that Biff was born on March 28, 1937.
Doc planned to come up with a "Plan C" once he arrived in 1983, and disappeared into the future as he was looking at his pocketwatch.
The Hill Valley Telegraph reports that Doc has been committed to a mental ward.
Date unknown: Biff stepped out of the chamber and realized he was in BiffCo, as the chamber was brought there after the police apprehended the members of the Hill Valley Civic Committee. Biff wanted to know what the refrigerator did, and why it took so much power. Doc refused, and Biff told him that there were ways to get him to talk if he wouldn't talk willingly.
Sunday, May 22: Doc Brown is committed to Mental Ward B at the Hill Valley Hospital after being declared legally insane. Richard Nixon announces he will run for a fifth term in office and promises to end the Vietnam War by 1985. BiffCo's representatives announce that the company is going to build a new dioxin plant in Hill Valley and takes over Lone Pine Mall.[57]
Biff Tannen returned in the time machine. He was slowly being erased from history, as his changing the past had caused him to no longer be alive in 2015. While he was in pain from the ripple effect catching up to him, he broke his cane off in the DeLorean and left the Blast from the Past bag beind.
Doc, Marty, Jennifer and Einstein traveled in the DeLorean from 2015 to 1985, not realizing that the past had been changed.

This timeline occurs when Doc, Marty, Jennifer, and Einstein travel from 2015 to 1985. (Back to the Future Part II)
At 9:00 PM, Marty lies his sleeping girlfriend down on the porch swing outside of what he believes is her house, however he is surprised to see bars on the windows.
Shortly afterward, Marty arrives at what he believes is his house, however the gate is locked. He jumps over it and opens the window to what he thinks is his bedroom. However, an African-American family now lives in the house, and he lands on the bed of a teenage girl named Loretta. Her father comes into the room and chases Marty out of the house with a wooden baseball bat.
Marty discovers the date on the Hill Valley Newspaper on Principal Strickland's porch. He discovers that Hill Valley High School burned down years ago, and Strickland now weilds a shotgun to defend himself from armed teenaged gangs.
Upon arriving at Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise Casino & Hotel, Marty is knocked out by Biff's gang, and is taken to the penthouse suite. He discovers that his mother is married to Biff, his sister had maxed out the limits on her credit cards, his brother is in jail, and his father was murdered in 1973.
Doc goes to the closed Hill Valley Public Library and searches for clues that will explain the timeline he has found himself in. He discovers that his counterpart in this timeline has been declared legally insane and has been committed.
Doc goes to the County Asylum, where his counterpart is now being held, and bribes the Asylum nurse to let him into his counterpart's room, giving his birth name of Von Braun as his surname. He is shocked to discover that his counterpart can not answer any of his questions as he has been lobotomized.
Doc meets up with Marty at Oak Park Cemetery and then they travel to what remains of Doc's lab. He explains that Biff stole the sports almanac, by magnifying a photograph where Biff had the book in his pocket. He tells Marty that they need to find out when Biff gave his younger counterpart the book, as traveling to the future at that point would only result in traveling to the future in that timeline.
Marty decided that the only way to find out is to ask Biff, and he heads back to Biff's casino hotel.
Marty let Biff know that he knows about the almanac, and Biff tells him that he was given the book by an old man on November 12, 1955. He also states the old man told him that a kid or a wild haired old man who claimed to be a scientist would show up one day. Biff then fired a gun at Marty, but he caused Biff to miss by shooting an ashtray at him.
Biff chased Marty up to the roof, and let him know that he killed his father with the same gun. Marty jumped off the roof, and Biff gloated. He walked to the edge to take a look down at the street and was surprised as Marty rose back up. He was then knocked out when Doc opened up the gull-wing doors of the DeLorean.
Marty gives Doc the date, and Doc states that either that date is a significant date in the fabric of time, or it could just be a coincidence. Marty and Doc travel from 1985 back to 1955.
6:00 a.m. Doc and Marty arrive from 1985 in a DeLorean technologically improved than the one (with depleted plutonium) in which the younger Marty has already arrived. They have left Einstein at Doc's garage and Jennifer Parker safely asleep at home in 1985, as Doc surmises that they will not be erased by any changes to the future that they will make. He also advises Marty that Biff’s initial acquisition of the almanac must not be interfered with, so that the elderly Biff will return the time machine to 2015 thinking he’s succeeded.
Later that same morning. The elderly Biff arrives from 2015 (in yet another instance of the DeLorean) with the almanac. He then locates his younger self later that day at Western Auto, picking up his car - and having an argument with Terry over the $302.57 repair bill. As this goes on, Marty smuggles himself into the back seat of Biff's car.
Accompanied by Babs, Lorraine has just picked up her outfit for the dance from Ruth's Frock Shop. As young Biff boasts to her that he will marry her someday, she rebuffs his advances. Biff is then about to jump into his car to drive home and get ready for the evening, when he encounters an elderly stranger occupying the driver’s seat. Although the stranger is mysteriously able to start the car, Biff apparently fails to recognize him as his older self, who then informs him that "Today’s your lucky day."
Marty, hiding in the back seat of the car, is an intimate witness to the elderly Biff’s demonstration of the power of the almanac, but he does not interfere, as Doc has advised. The young Biff tells his older self he’ll "...take a look at it."
6:38 p.m.: Thinking he’s done enough to change the future, and intending to escape detection, the elderly Biff departs in the DeLorean to the same moment he departed in 2015.
9:28 p.m. Marty retrieves the Sports Almanac from an unconscious Biff, while Doc departs the Lyon Estates construction site to fly towards the roof of Hill Valley High School.
A more mature and foreknowledgeable Marty fights off Match, Skinhead and 3-D and keeps them from jumping the naive Marty, allowing the events of that timeline to occur as they had before (i.e., as Marty recalls it from his point of view). Marty avoids any direct contact with his day younger self, until he loses the almanac to Biff again.
After much wasted time and effort, Marty ultimately retrieves the almanac from Biff’s car. Biff, who has not paid for the $300 repairs after his first wreck, crashes his '46 Ford a second time, an event that had not happened in any previous timeline. Burning the almanac causes this timeline to fade back, making Old Biff's visit to the past mostly inconsequential, except for Biff's extra encounters with Marty. Marty and Doc are able to visually confirm the erasure of the alternate 1985 from items they’ve retrieved from that alternate future.
9:44 p.m. The hover-converted DeLorean from 2015, with Doc on board, gets unexpectedly struck by lightning just outside Lyon Estates and sent seventy years back in time to January 1, 1885 due to an on-board malfunction Doc neglected to correct.[62]The overload of the time circuits also causes the DeLorean to be temporal duplicated. The temporal duplicate DeLorean is simultaneously sent seventy years into the future, without Doc, to 2025.[63]
12:00 a.m. Dr. Emmett Brown accidentally arrives from 1955. The DeLorean's time circuits have been scrambled and shorted out by an overload caused by the lightning bolt, rendering the car useless for time travel and stranding Doc in the past. The overload also permanently damages the car's flying circuits, disabling its hover-conversion feature for good.
Stranded in 1885, Doc settles in Hill Valley, where he sets himself up as a blacksmith. He then tries improvising methods in attempting repairs on the DeLorean, only to realize that most of the technology he needs will not be available until the next century (i.e. suitable replacement parts for the time circuits yet to be invented around 1947 at the earliest.) Nevertheless, Doc becomes adept at shoeing horses and repairing wagons, alongside his own experiments using the primitive technology available for the time.
With the DeLorean's time circuit control microchip shorted out by the lightning bolt, Doc writes detailed instructions (including drawing schematic diagrams) on rebuilding it with 1955-era vacuum tubes and transistors (in a sense, Doc teaches his younger self how to repair the time machine.) He then places these in the DeLorean before burying it in the Delgado Mine, where he hopes it will remain undisturbed and preserved until his younger self and Marty unearth it 70 years hence.
Blacksmith Emmett Brown is hired by Buford Tannen to shoe Buford's horse, but is not paid. After getting thrown off his horse and breaking a bottle of whiskey, Buford blames Doc for the accident and demands a total of eighty dollars from him; five dollars for the whiskey and seventy-five dollars for the horse, which was shot.
Saturday, July 4: Doc passes out after drinking one shot of whiskey at the 4th of July celebrations.
Saturday, August 29: There is a meeting of the townspeople over who will pick up the new schoolteacher on September 4. Doc volunteers.
Tuesday, September 1: Having lived in 1885 for 8 months[33], Doc writes a letter to be delivered personally by Western Union to Marty McFly on November 12, 1955 exactly at 9:45 p.m. to the exact stretch of road he was hovering above when he was struck by lightning.
Friday, September 4: A train pulls into Hill Valley Station, carrying the new clock for the courthouse - and Clara Clayton aboard as a passenger. Doc meets her at the platform and brings her to the schoolhouse, where the two fall in love. Unknowingly, Doc also prevents Clara's death that day, and Shonash Ravine is never renamed Clayton Ravine in her memory.
Saturday, September 5: The Hill Valley Festival. A photographer takes a portrait of Doc posing next to the new courthouse clock (this photo is discovered by Marty and young Doc in 1955 at the library). While Doc dances with Clara, Buford Tannen shoots Doc in the back because he never paid Buford the eighty dollars.
Monday, September 7: Doc dies of the bullet wound Tannen caused, and is buried in Boot Hill Cemetery - which is fittingly adjacent to Delgado Mine, where the DeLorean (with repair instructions) is safely buried. Clara, grief-stricken over the loss of her man, erects a headstone on his grave in eternal memory of him.
9:45 p.m. A vehicle driven by a Western Union agent arrives at the entrance to Lyon Estates. The agent delivers to Marty, on time at that specified location, in the pouring rain, the letter Doc dispatched in 1885.
10:05 p.m. Lightning having just struck the clocktower, Marty scares the young Doc by "returning" on foot seconds after Doc sent the younger Marty back to the future, in effect creating an unexpected closed loop (from the young Doc’s point of view). Doc utters "Great Scott!" and suddenly faints. Marty drives the unconscious Doc back to his house in Doc's car.
7:01 a.m.: Young Doc reads the soggy old letter his 30-year-older self wrote seventy years in the past.
Monday, November 14: Marty and Doc uncover the DeLorean with repair instructions and his walkie talkie from the Delgado Mine near Boot Hill Cemetery, where the older Doc Brown was buried in 1885. As fate would have it, they also find Doc's grave and learn about Buford Tannen. They elect to photograph the headstone, as it will serve as a "ripple-effect" indicator of Marty’s success in 1885.
Marty insists on going back to 1885 to rescue his friend.
Tuesday, November 15: Doc repairs and "soups up" the unearthed DeLorean, building a new time circuit with vacuum tubes and transistors. He also fits the DeLorean with new whitewall tires, and installs fresh oversized batteries on his and Marty's walkie talkies.
8:00 a.m. Marty McFly arrives in 1885 to rescue Doc from impending doom. Native American Horseback-archers, who were on the run of the Federal Forces, shoot the DeLorean's fuel line, damaging it and leaving the car with no fuel at all. After hiding the DeLorean in a bear's cave, Marty later meets his ancestors Seamus, Maggie, and William McFly on the McFly farm and assumes the name "Clint Eastwood".
Marty arrives in Hill Valley, and upsets Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen, great grandfather of Biff Tannen, at the Palace Saloon, causing Tannen to nearly hang Marty. Doc saves Marty in time. Marty informs Doc of his impending death involving Buford and his infatuation with Clara Clayton. Aware that he will fall in love with Clara and worried about changing his future, Doc decides not to pick her up, as he has already volunteered to do five days ago. He and Marty then decide to leave 1885 and go back to 1985, but Marty notes about the DeLorean's damaged fuel line, realizing that there's no way to get the car up to 88 mph without gasoline, which will not be available until next century.
With 6 horses, Doc and Marty ride out to the cave where Marty hid the DeLorean. They attempt to get it to up 88 mph on the way back to Hill Valley, but this proved unsuccessful as Doc explains that even the fastest horses in the world can reach nowhere near that speed.
Doc tries using whiskey as fuel for the DeLorean's engine, but this only blows the fuel injection manifold, rendering the car completely powerless. He and Marty then think of various alternative methods to get the DeLorean up to 88 mph, but none of them seem practical.
A train pulls into Hill Valley Station, carrying the new clock for the courthouse - and Clara aboard as a passenger. This gives Doc and Marty the idea of borrowing the locomotive to push the DeLorean. (They fail to recognize Clara standing behind them at the platform, waiting to be picked up. With no one to meet her, she then rents two horses and a wagon from Joe Statler, then sets out to find the schoolhouse on her own.)
Doc and Marty ride out to Carson Spur, near the incomplete Shonash Ravine Bridge, ultimately deciding it is the perfect stretch of level track on which to push the DeLorean up to 88 mph with the locomotive just before they reach the edge of the ravine (over which the completed bridge would then exist upon arriving back in 1985).
As Doc and Marty survey the bridge (which is scheduled for completion the following year), Clara's wagon runs away after a snake spooks the horses pulling it. Doc then comes to her rescue, saving her life. It is love at first sight. Much to Marty's horror, he and Doc realize that they unknowingly altered future history, resulting in Shonash Ravine not being re-named in memory of Clara. Marty nevertheless insists on getting the DeLorean ready to get them back to the future.
After fitting the DeLorean with flanged steel railroad wheels, Doc uses a makeshift model railroad to demonstrate to Marty the plan on getting them back to the future. Immediately after, Clara arrives, asking Doc to repair her telescope, which had been damaged when it fell off the wagon during the rescue the day before. Doc, agreeing to perform the repair job without charge, becomes even more smitten with her.
Evening. The Hill Valley Festival. Doc and Marty have a photograph taken, posing next to the new courthouse clock (this photo is given to Marty in 1985 by Doc at the spot where the DeLorean was destroyed by a locomotive near Eastwood Ravine). Later on, while Doc and Clara dance, Buford Tannen arrives and attempts to shoot Doc, but Marty interferes and saves him. Buford, angered by Marty's action, calls him "yellow", challenging him to a duel on Monday morning. Aiming to prove himself to Buford that he isn't "yellow", Marty agrees to the face-off, setting it for 8 a.m. that morning.
7:00 a.m. Marty wakes up. After being confronted by Doc about the dangers of fighting Buford, Marty checks his photograph of the tombstone from 1955, and gets a shock. The future in which Doc is killed is replaced by one in which Marty, aka "Clint Eastwood", is likely to be killed.
Evening. Doc and Marty haul the DeLorean out to Carson Spur, where they unload the car onto the tracks in preparation for their trip back to the future. Later that night, while an exhausted Marty sleeps, Doc tells Clara the truth and says goodbye to her, but she doesn't believe him. Both are broken-hearted: Doc heads back to town and gets a drink at the Palace Saloon, while Clara prepares to leave Hill Valley.
8:00 a.m. Marty has a showdown scheduled with Buford Tannen outside Palace Saloon. Marty and Doc escape through the saloon's back door when Buford spots Marty, and again calls him "yellow". Marty still decides not to face Buford, showing an incredible amount of growth from a mere day earlier, and is about to walk away when Buford and his gang get a hold of Doc and threaten to shoot him.
A train pulled by Locomotive 131 pulls into Hill Valley Station. Clara, deeply upset over losing Doc, then boards it before it departs for San Francisco.
Marty decides to face Buford, who then shoots Marty in the chest. Using a trick learned from the Clint Eastwood movie A Fistful of Dollars (which was being watched by Biff in 1985), Marty survives, much to Buford's surprise. Marty then throws several punches at Buford, finally knocking him face-first into a manure cart, to the delight of the townspeople.
Buford and his gang are arrested for the robbery of the Pine City stage.
Taking one last look at the photo of the tombstone, Marty and Doc are relieved as it disappears (after having been damaged from Marty's punch-out with Buford). The future in which Marty is killed is replaced by one in which both Doc and Marty survive. They then head off to the railroad line to follow the train that had just departed.
Meanwhile, on board the train, Clara overhears a passenger talking about the heartsick Doc; her belief restored, she stops the train and jumps off to find him. She discovers clues at the blacksmith shop and rides on horseback towards Carson Spur. She must reach Doc before he vanishes forever.
Doc and Marty ride after the train which had just left Hill Valley earlier that morning. They then stop it just before it hits the switchtrack with Carson Spur, then hijack its locomotive to push the DeLorean up to 88 mph toward Shonash Ravine so they may both go back to the future (1985). Marty succeeds in doing so, but Doc, who has gone to Clara's rescue on the accelerating locomotive, and Clara are forced to stay behind. Doc now has the hoverboard and one of the walkie talkies. Since "Clint" was observed stealing the locomotive and is presumed to have gone down with it, he enters the town's folklore as the man who beat Mad Dog Tannen, and Shonash Ravine is renamed Eastwood Ravine.
9:00 a.m. Marty departs 1885 and finally returns to 1985.
While Doc tells his sons stories of his time travel adventures and reads them stories by the fireplace, Clara wishes that she could go to his time period. Doc is happy in his life as a blacksmith and father, but Clara feels restrained by the limits imposed upon her as a 19th century woman.
After unsuccessfully attempting to generate the amount of electricity needed for time travel, Doc tells the story of how he and Marty first met to his sons Jules and Verne, the latter of whom Clara mentions is only two years old.

The Brown family attempts a trip to 1985 in the time train, but they fail. Just as the train appears to be breaking the time barrier, it crashes at the end of the tracks. Marshall Strickland and his son Roger run to the train to help Emmett and his family. Everyone is alright, but Doc debates whether to just stay where he is. He is sure that Marty would take care of Einstein, and he is happy living with Clara and their sons.
Clara decides to tell Emmett the truth, and lets him know that she wouldn't be happy if he gave up. She wants to travel through time. He lets him know that time travel isn't just his dream, but one that they both share. Jules and Verne tell him that it is their dream too, and that they all want to travel to see the future for themselves.
Clara points out a man on a steam tricycle, and Emmett realizes that someone has invented an automobile. The man informs him that the device was created by Léon Serpollet in France, and that he had imported it, at great expense.
Doc asks him how fast it can go. The man tells him that he had driven it as fast as eighteen miles an hour. Clara and Doc then decide that is a good start, and decide to work together to make their dream a reality.

Doc examines the technology in the hoverboard, and is able to create a frictionless dynamo that can create multiples of the 1.21 gigawatts needed for time travel, which would improve the time machine's ability to break the time barrier.
He also surmises that the steam time car wouldn't survive a second trip, so he builds a time parachute, which, when combined with the removable time circuits, flux capacitor, and frictionless dynamo from the steam time car, can be used to travel through time. He connected it to a hot air balloon, which would rise to a distance of half a mile. The person in the time parachute would fall at a rate of 35 feet per second per second, and would reach 88 mph between four and five seconds, successfully reaching the speed needed to break the time barrier and travel through time.
Sunday, August 13: Doc Brown left his family for the future in the steam time car, intending to go to 2015 to pick up items he needed to complete the Jules Verne train. The time travel was a success, however due to the 19th century parts he had to use, there was a fluctuation in the space-time continuum. Doc ended up in 2035 instead of 2015, and, although he told his family he'd return seconds after he left, he didn't return home that night.
Monday, August 14: Doc has been missing for a day, so Clara writes a letter and brings it to the Western Union, as Doc had done years earlier. She leaves the note with instructions for it to be delivered to Marty at "the highest attainable level of education prior to university, on the first Monday of March, 1986".
11:00 a.m.Marty McFly returns from 1885 and the stopped DeLorean is almost immediately demolished head-on by a diesel locomotive approaching the Eastwood Ravine Bridge in the opposite direction. Marty escapes. He returns home to see everything is back to normal. He then drives over to check on his sleeping sweetheart. She is just as Doc predicted.
In a virtuous display of uncharacteristic self-restraint, Marty decides not to race Needles, and avoids crashing into a Rolls Royce, thus erasing the future experienced in 2015. Jennifer surprises Marty with the fax she retrieved from 2015, and it "ripples" into a blank sheet of paper. She discovers the hidden truth about time travel, exclaiming: “It erased!” Marty takes her to see the remains of the DeLorean. Marty finds the photograph that was taken of Doc and himself in front of the unfinished clock tower in 1885, only the side of the photograph that showed Doc was burnt away. Doc and his family don't arrive in this timeline.
Marty is feeling depressed, as he feels that is life is boring without Doc. He doesn't want to drive his truck, so Jennifer waits for him to pick her up to go to school, but he never arrives.
In history class, the Western Union delivery man delivers Clara's note to Marty, stating that his supervisor had experienced a case like this when he was young. His teacher scolded Marty, telling him to only receive mail at his own house, but the letter was given to Marty regardless.
Marty goes to lunch, where Jennifer is complaining about Marty's lack of caring for her lately to her friends Tiffany and Michelle. Marty breaks into the conversation and tells Jennifer that he needs to talk to her. He then privately discusses the note with her.
After school, Marty and Jennifer drive to Doc's lab, but it's closed tight, and Marty realizes that there is nothing there anymore.
Jennifer realizes that Marty didn't see the DeLorean time machine until Doc unveiled it at the mall, and realizes that Doc must have a second lab.
They go to check Hill Valley's records, and talk to Goldie Wilson II, who is working there on his way up the political ranks until he can some day be mayor like his father. They discover a building registered under Doc's birth name, Emmett Van Braun.
Marty and Jennifer drive to the location of the second lab, and Marty solves the puzzle on the keypad allowing him to enter, as he did when he first met Doc Brown.
Marty absent-mindedly flips a switch on a machine he doesn't recognize, which turns out to be the temporal field generator Mk II. It begins humming, and he backs away.
They see another DeLorean, which has not been modified for time travel.
Approximately 8:20 pm: Marty writes a note for Doc, and leaves it in a canister for Doc to pick up in the future.
Doc realizes he arrived 20 years later than he intended. He goes to his second lab to pick up his clothes, which although 20 years out of date, are better than 19th century clothing.
He finds Marty's note, and is confused, since he's not in trouble.
He goes to the bank to get a comic from the safety deposit box, however the DNA scan shows that he is only eight years older, rather than twenty. The bank teller believes that he is a cheap clone, and calls the police.
Doc is chased by Griff Tannen, who has had behavioral modifications installed and is now a police officer. Griff shoots an electric charge at Doc, intending to disable his implants. However, as Doc doesn't have any, he suffers amnesia.
Confused, Doc reaches into his pocket and pulls out Marty's letter. Not knowing what else to do, he drives the steam time car to 1986, at the time and place mentioned in the note.
Approximately 8:20 pm: While Jennifer and Marty are investigating the second lab, an amnesiac and confused Doc arrives from 2035 and crashes the steam time car into a stop sign. He walks to his second lab.
Doc and Jennifer hear a noise, and discover a man in a diving suit stuck in one of Doc's net traps. The man takes off his helmet, and reveals that he's Doc Brown, except he has amnesia, and doesn't recognize Jennifer or Marty. He doesn't even realize that he's a doctor, thinking that Marty was using the name Doc in the same manner as Bugs Bunny.
They hear the police, and assume that a silent alarm must have been triggered.
Marty drives the DeLorean through the garage door, and, since the DeLorean doesn't have any license plates, is able to outrun the police.
Marty and Jennifer try to get Doc to retrace his steps to refresh his memory. They travel to the stop sign and discover a flyer stating it had been taken to Lee Bros. Towing & Repair.
They head to the location on the flyer. The man who works there, Jack, would only give them the car for $300.
Lacking the money, they decide to steal the car, but spot Needles talking to Jack.
Needles begins harassing Marty, and Marty decides to steal the tow truck to which the steam time car is connected.
Needles chases him, trying to run him off the road.
Jennifer is following them in the DeLorean, with Doc in the passenger seat. She knocks Needles off the road, and he crashes into a delivery truck.
Marty and Doc arrive in 2035 from 2035. The time parachute crashes through the ceiling of a building that was the Lone Pine Mall in 1986, which is now the Lone Pine Fli-Drome.
They arrive in the middle of a fliderb, a hoverboard roller derby. As they arrived in a radiation suit and a diving suit, and had crashed through the roof, the fliderb players thought they were terrorists, and called the police.
Doc and Marty escape into Bistro Twenty/15. This restaurant was themed on life in 2015, as Cafe 80's was modeled after the 1980s in 2015.
Officer Tannen enters Bistro Twenty/15. He recognized Doc as the person who supposedly stole the identity of Leroy Brown. Once he saw the diving suit, he realized that Doc and Marty were the two people who were the cause of the disturbance at the Fliderb.
Tannen chased them in his police vehicle while they fled on hoverboards. While they were being chased, Doc fell backwards on his board and hit his head. This shock caused him to remember everything, and he told Marty all about how he had found himself in that situation once they reached Doc's secret lab.
It seemed like the two were cornered, however Marty discovered that the machine that he had turned on out of curiosity in 1986 was actually the temporal field generator Mk II. Although the device could only transport objects through time during the time in which the machine had been turned on, since it was turned on nearly fifty years prior, time would not be a factor.
Doc donned the diving suit, carried his time parachute and its equipment with him, and used the temporal field generator Mk II to travel back to 2015, leaving Marty behind in 2035.
Date unknown: Doc arrives in 2015 and uses his false identity to withdraw a comic from his safe at the bank. He then purchases a Mr. Fusion unit and heads back to his lab to use the temporal field generator Mk II to pick up Jennifer in 1986.
Doc arrives from 2015. He uses the tow truck to travel from his second lab to the Lone Pine Mall. He installs the Mr. Fusion he picked up in 2015, along with the time circuits, frictionless dynamo, and flux capacitor from the time parachute into the second DeLorean.
Jennifer drives the second DeLorean time machine, with Doc in the passenger seat, from 1986 to 2035 to pick up Marty.
When Jennifer and Doc arrived, Commissioner Wilson had arrested Griff Tannen. She had also arrested Marty for his actions at the Fliderb, and told him that he'd likely get the same sage implant and personality rewrite that Griff Tannen had received.
Griff broke free and attempted to run them all over when Jennifer and Doc arrived in the DeLorean and knocked his hovercar out of the way. Marty got into the DeLorean and Jennifer attempted to outrun the police, who were in pursuit, along with Griff Tannen.
Doc informed Marty and Jennifer that every person in 2035 wore a suit outfitted with a hover technology protection that acted as a force field and made them bounce when hit. Knowing that the people would be unharmed, Jennifer sped full speed into a crowd of people. ***As the bouncing pedestrians blocked Griff's view, he did not see the sewage reclamation project ahead, and crashed into it.
Jennifer sped up to 88 m.p.h and traveled from 2035 back to 1986.
Marcus Irving researches the project, and discovers that he wasn't the first person asked by the government to conduct time travel research. Angry at Doc Brown for not taking the military's offer and wasting decades of his life, he decides to seek him out.
The tow truck is returned, and the steam time car is left next to Marty's Toyota Hilux at Doc's second lab.
Doc picks up Einstein.
Doc drops Marty and Jennifer off at the McFly residence, and gives Marty a bag of canisters so that he can send him a note if he ever needs help.
Doc travels from 1986 to 1893, and Marcus Irving witnesses the DeLorean breaking the time barrier.
Marty walks Jennifer home, they kiss, and make a date for the next day.
Marty walks home, and both Jennifer and Marty go to sleep.
The police arrest Needles for crashing into the delivery truck. They don't believe his claims that Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker were involved, since there was no DeLorean near the crime scene, and Marty and Jennifer were both asleep in their beds.
The delivery driver that called the police mentioned "some 1920's car with a parachute", however, since the police found a flask in the delivery van, his testimony was not admissible in court.
Needles used his phone call to call Marty a chicken, and Marty was unfazed, telling him that he needed to change his tune.
Marty and Jennifer see the new Clint Eastwood movie.
Marty returns home. His parents admonish him for being late, but he hugs them, and tells him that his day was alright, but that he was really looking forward to tomorrow.
Doc returns in the second DeLorean time machine on the evening that Clara wrote the letter. He needed to be sure that he would still be absent, allowing her to send the letter, as it was necessary in making sure he arrived home safely.
Einstein happily licks Clara, while Doc hugs his sons.
Doc and Verne arrived from 1893. Doc purchased hover conversion equipment from Goldie Wilson III, and the Jules Verne novel The Lighthouse at the End of the World. Verne, whose presence in this time period was unknown by Doc, left the DeLorean to explore the 21st century Hill Valley, and became lost. He was temporarily kidnapped by the remaining members of Griff's gang so that they could take advantage of Halloween and rob a store in disguise. Luckily, Verne was able to stop their plan and reunited with Doc.
Doc and Verne left 2017 to head back home to 1893.
Doc and Verne return home. Doc gives Clara the gift he purchased for her, and Clara gives him a pen and a notebook so he won't forget any more anniversaries.

Doc uses the equipment he purchased from Goldie Wilson III in 2017 to convert the second DeLorean and the Jules Verne train into hover capable vehicles.
Doc travels to 1986, as he is worried about taking his family into the future with the Jules Verne train.
Marty wrote a new song for the The Pinheads to practice playing. Paul, Bobby and Lee stop playing and laugh, as the events that Marty is singing didn't happen. Marty tells them that he remembers it, as it is when they went camping and Bobby first joined the band. His band mates tell him that they didn't take a bus, but instead took Marty's truck to the campsite. They state that was the whole reason for the trip, as Marty was saving up all summer to buy the truck, and his dad pitched in the remaining money.
Marty looks at photos and talks to his girlfriend about how they first met, and realizes that his memories don't match up with a lot of events.
Marty gets theories about time travel from his father, and about fate from his father's priest, Father O'Flaherty. The latter causes Marty to worry about going to hell, as he and Doc are changing God's divine plan.
Marty picks up the canisters Doc gave him, but leaves them on his bed.
He picks up Jennifer and shows her the Twin Pine Mall, explaining that Doc was originally shot and killed by Libyan terrorists, and that he saw another Marty get in the DeLorean and travel to 1955.
He worries that he is not the same Marty that she fell in love with, but Jennifer kisses him and says that she can tell that he is the same person by his eyes.
Marty and Jennifer decide to go to Doc's secret lab, as Doc is the only person who can help with a matter related to time travel.
The alarm has on the secret lab sounded and two police officers are there. The older officer, Officer Foley, recognizes Marty from the ordeal with Needles. The officers are aware that Marty knows Doc, and wonders if he can turn off the alarm.
Marty uses the keypad to disarm the alarm, and the four of them enter the lab.
One of the officers asks if he should turn off the temporal field generator Mk II, since it is making a funny noise. Marty and Jennifer respond simultaneously with "no", realizing that the machine must stay on in order to ensure that Marty and Doc would return from 2035.
Marty spots a canister marked with a zero. He opens it and finds a note signed "a friend in time".
Marty comes face-to-face with Marcus Irving. Irving revealed that, after his project was terminated by the United States military, he used an inexpensive Yugo GX to create a partially working time machine.
He feeds Marty a story about their being multiple universes with multiple versions of himself, and that he is from another universe that still exists, which is why his memories don't match.
Marty gets worried and writes a letter to Doc and leaves it in a canister.

Doc and the android get in a fight, and the android's false face comes off. Doc kicks it out of the DeLorean and heads back to Marty.
Doc uses the technology from the android to trace the other androids, and discovers Marcus Irving's hideout.
Doc told Marty that the situation was not as it appeared.
Doc incapacitated the other robots with the stun gun that Griff Tannen had used on him in 2035.
Marty and Doc then went to find the remaining android before it could do any harm, but they were too late.
The faceless android knocked out Needles' gang with a knock out serum mixed with a memory clouding agent that made their memory hazy. It was doing the same to Needles himself, when Marty showed up to stop it.
Doc meanwhile, headed to the DeLorean, and found that Irving had repaired it, placing the flux capacitor back in place and replacing the tires.
Doc was tries to use a remote control override, when the aged Marcus Irving used the knock out serum on him.
The android takes the DeLorean to 1997, and the Yugo time machine takes Doc, Marty and Marcus to 19654 B.C.
Marcus Irving arrives in his lab, and the DeLorean is there as well. However, he is worried that Doc and Marty might cause a butterfly effect that will change the future that he worked so hard to make.
Marcus takes an android with him in his Yugo time machine from 1997 to 19654 B.C.
Marty and Doc are waiting on the rock when the Yugo GX arrives.
Marty and Doc gets in the Yugo time machine, and Marcus said that he didn't want to arrive earlier since he didn't want to wait around until they got to the rock.
Marcus had the android treat Marty's scratch
Marcus, Doc, Marty and the android travel from 19654 B.C. to 1997
Marcus takes Doc and Marty through his lab, and they see the technology that he has collected. Doc realizes that the technology is from the 21st century, and Marty realizes that he is pulling a "reverse Biff", going into the future to make himself rich.
Marcus locked Doc and Marty in a room with his androids, telling them that he didn't mind if they were killed in this time period.
Doc uses his remote control override, and the DeLorean drives over an android, out of the garage, and up to the penthouse level, where Doc and Marty are being kept, crashing through the window.
The elevator Marcus is on automatically takes Marcus down to the garage level, while Marcus is pushing the button trying to get it to go up.
Doc and Marty get into the DeLorean and fly down to the garage.
Doc explains that they can't just go back and stop Marcus from taking the flux capacitor, since the effects on a time traveler aren't instant, pointing out that it took a week for Marty to begin to fade from existence in 1955. Marcus and Doc could get in a reverse time race, with each vehicle going further back in time to try to prevent the other from making changes.
Doc rams the DeLorean into the elevator cord, slowing Marcus down.
Marty and Doc look at all the future technology.
Marty sees a photo album and realizes that Marcus had been alone all this time.
A female android that has been built to be Marcus Irving's sister comes online, and Doc and Marty realize that Marcus has become a bit crazy during his decade of living all alone.
Marty realizes that his fear of being all alone is what drove him to find Marty in the first place.
They decide to take Marcus to his younger self, traveling in the DeLorean back to 1986.
Marcus Irving is traveling in his Yugo GX, happy that he has taken the flux capacitor.
Marty and Doc arrive from 1997 in the DeLorean, followed by the older Marcus in the Yugo.
Marcus is happy at first that his older self has come back to stop Marty and Doc, until he realizes how imposing he has become.
He sees the army of Doc and Marty androids and thinks that everything he told Marty about alternate dimensions was true. However, Marty tells him the truth: that he has become a lunatic, a kidnapper, and a thief.
A woman and her niece get caught in the middle of the ensuing chaos, as the androids are ready to destroy everyone around them.
Marcus realizes that he has become a person that he no longer viewed as himself, as his older self is willing to commit murder.
Marcus slams the flux capcitor into the android that is about to attack the innocent bystanders.
The older Marcus Irving realizes he was almost a murderer. As he fades from existence, he comments that he is happy for the man he once was, and the man he could become.
The androids and the steel plated Yugo time machine fade from existence, and Marcus tries to explain that he is a scientist and states that the androids that faded from existence were holograms.
The woman introduces herself as Gabriela Sanchez, and her niece as Maria.
Gabriela thanks Marcus for saving her life, and asks Marty and Doc who they are. Marty and Doc reply that they are Marcus Irving's friends. Which Marcus replies that they are probably his best friends, who helped him in a moment of crisis.
Needles arrives, and tries to harass Marty, but he wrestles with the unbelievable, and hazy, memories that he has of Marty fighting another Marty without a face. In light of this, he decides to leave Marty alone for a change.
Marty is telling the story of the events to Jennifer while she is at work at Shanerburger. Marcus tells Doc and Marty not to embarrass him, since he is on a date with Gabriella.
Marty and Jennifer wonder what will happen to Marcus, and Doc comments that he hopes he returns the Yugo to the authorities as not everyone can be trusted with unlicensed nuclear reactors.
These events give Marty an idea for a song, and he picks up his guitar and begins to create it.
Marcus and Doc are working on the DeLorean, and Marcus tells Doc that he has another date with Gabriella, that afternoon. He tells Doc that she said it wasn't a big deal if he was late, but Doc tells him to assume it is a big deal, and to make sure he's not late. Thus, Doc becomes a mentor to Irving, both in time travel and in how to act while dating.
Marty is told that Joey was his favorite Uncle when he was little, and Marty is surprised at hearing this, until he remembers feeling that way in kindergarten.
Marty decides to ask Doc, and heads to his secret lab, where he is working on the DeLorean with Marcus Irving. Marty is surprised when Doc reacts with panic when learning that Joey is being released from prison, and tells him to stay away from his uncle.
This makes Marty even more curious, so they head to the public library to use a microfilm reader to search the newspaper archives.
They discover Joey was arrested on June 24, 1972, for stealing $85,000 from the home of a woman named Mrs. Ellsworth.
Marty is disappointed, and heads home, surprised that his parents haven't returned home with Joey yet.
He opens a package addressed to Joey, and is surprised to find a painting with a note that read "Together we can find the loot".
Marty tried to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor in his brother Dave's room, but couldn't as he was kept awake by Dave's loud snoring.
Lorraine made a cake for Joey. She told him that she's sorry that it is late, but she wanted to be sure that he made parole before she made another cake.
Lorraine's entire family is there to see Joey, but they aren't happy with him. His mother scolded him for getting tattoos, and told him that they would have let him stay with them, but they didn't have any room. His father simply tells his wife that he knows that already. His brother Toby stated that he just wanted to make Marty an accomplice to another crime as he was an impressionable youth, and when Marty stated that he was only 17, Joey's other brother Milton mentioned that Joey was only 18 when he was arrested. Due to the stress of the situation and the fact that he hadn't had any sleep, Marty told him that he was disappointed in Joey when he was arrested and states that his mother was even more disappointed. Feeling that he had no support from any of his family, even the nephew that used to love him, Joey angrily left the house.
Marty then headed to Doc's secret lab to get advice from him on how to deal with things, however only Professor Irving was there, as Doc left to get a carbonic actuator to repair the DeLorean.
Marty told Marcus about the situation with his uncle, and fell asleep just as Marcus told him that he might be able to help.
When Marty woke up, he was in the passenger seat of the DeLorean. Marcus informed him that the DeLorean was in working order, but Doc was dragging his feat as he was worried about taking his family through time in the Jules Verne train.
Marty tried to get Marcus to stop the car, but it's too late, as the DeLorean broke the time barrier and traveled back to 1972.
The DeLorean arrives in the middle of traffic, as Marcus neglected to factor in daylight savings time, and assumed that it would be dark when they arrived.
Marty takes control of the DeLorean and makes it fly on its side, narrowly missing a Volkswagen Bus. He then flies it onto the roof of a parking garage, as he knows that the garage closes at 5 PM.
Marcus is worried about the damage he could have done to the space-time continuum by allowing people to see a vehicle from the future, but Marty tells him that it will be alright, and convinces him to go through with his plan to go to Mrs. Ellsworth's house.
Marcus tells Marty to stay hidden, as his younger self is present in this time period, and people would recognize him as "Calvin Klein", since 1972 was not that far removed from 1955.
At Mrs. Ellsworth's house, Marcus was surprised to find Doc Brown answering the door. Marcus clumsily blurted out that he was Professor Martin, and he was there selling physics encyclopedias.
Doc let him in, as he stated he could use those, and he commented that he could use a new buffer between himself and his mother.
Doc's mother turned out to be Mrs. Ellsworth, who married Carlton Ellsworth after Judge Brown died, many years prior. After Carlton died, she moved into a new house in Hill Valley.
Marty, who was eavesdropping on the conversation, knocked over a plant pot. Emmett told his mother that the "troublemakers" were back, and shouted that he had informed the police about the incident. Marcus took this time to leave, telling Doc that he may return the next day, at a better time.
He met up with Marty, and the two decided to head back to 1986 and never tell Doc what happened. However, when they got to the parking garage, the DeLorean was missing.
Marty and Marcus eventually find the DeLorean, and travel back to 1986.
Marty and Jennifer are at the site of the destroyed DeLorean time machine, looking at the photograph of Marty in front of the clock tower in 1885.
Doc, Clara and their sons arrive at Marty’s crash site in their time locomotive to briefly check up on Marty and Jennifer. Jennifer and Marty show Doc the blank fax, and he dispenses some sound advice about its significance. The Brown family returns home to 1893.
(The game is a bit problematic to fit into the timeline. Marty tells his dad that it's only been "a few months" since he last saw Doc, and he mentions Doc arriving with his family in the time train. When counting these factors, this seems to place the story after Marcus Irving and Marty traveled in the second DeLorean, as Marcus told Marty that Doc was worried about taking his family through time in the time train. Marty's surprise at seeing the DeLorean could be taken as surprise at seeing an exact duplicate of the original, since the second DeLorean was partially created with 19th century parts.)
The temporal duplicate DeLorean arrives, without a driver, from 1955.
Griff Tannen finds the temporal duplicate DeLorean.
Doc Brown arrives and discovers the temporal duplicate DeLorean. He stops Griff from doing damage to the timestream, and takes the DeLorean.
Doc fixes the DeLorean, so that it is able to travel through time and is enabled for flight. He also adds new features, such as an automatic retrieval feature that automatically sends the DeLorean to specified three dimensional coordinates if Doc doesn't use the DeLorean for a prolonged period of time. The readout of the time circuits is still glitchy, however.
Doc searches records for the ancestry of the McFly family and has trouble finding information about Sylvia McFly.
Doc creates his flux override system to calibrate the time circuits.
Doc used the flux override system to take the temporal duplicate time machine back to the 19th century using the time machine he used to get to 2035 (the second DeLorean or the Jules Verne train).
(Note that Edna mentioned that she had seen Marty before, but couldn't remember where in the first issue of Citizen Brown. That would place the events of the comic adaptation in the timeline created at the end of the game - which would make the protagonist Marty's counterpart from this timeline).

Emmett Brown arrives in the temporal duplicate DeLorean. An arson attack occurs on the Hill Valley speakeasy. Emmett Brown, who is found unconscious at the scene, is believed to be the suspect and is arrested under the pseudonym "Carl Sagan."
Einstein, protecting Doc, attacks Edna Strickland, causing Edna to lose her shoe.
Einstein takes the shoe and waits for Doc in the DeLorean. The automatic retrieval system of the DeLorean is eventually activated which sends the time machine to May 14, 1986.
In the timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Doc is arrested in August, and he didn't take Einstein with him to 1931.
Sunday, June 14: Carl Sagan is slain in retaliation for the arson.

After Officer Parker swerves his car off the road due to Marty's sudden appearance, and the Tannen mob gets away, Marty parks the DeLorean behind the billboard outside of Hill Valley.
In the timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, no one is there, so Marty quietly parks the DeLorean behind the billboard.
Marty finds Doc in jail at the Hill Valley Police Department. Doc tells Marty about the temporal duplicate DeLorean, and tells Marty he was caught in the blast when he was trying to learn about the arson at the speakeasy. Marty shows Doc the newspaper article showing that Doc would be killed the next day.
In the timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Doc doesn't tell Marty why he is there, and he doesn't tell him where the DeLorean came from.

To get the alcohol needed for the drill, Marty arranges for a barrel of bootleg hooch to be delivered from the Sisters of Mercy Soup Kitchen, which is a front by Kid Tannen, to Judge Brown's house.
The alcohol arrives at the Brown mansion, along with the Stay Sober Society. The alcohol is successfully distilled via Emmett Brown's makeshift distillery, however Judge Brown is furious that former drunks were allowed on his property.
Marty confesses to the teenage Emmett that he is not from the patent office, but tells him that he needs the drill for something that is crucial to both their lives.
Marty attempts to use the drill on the jail cell, but the drill explodes and breaks apart.
Edna Strickland informs Marty that the police have taken Emmett off-site, and gives him her bicycle so he can follow them.
In the timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Emmett gives Marty the bicycle.
Marty ties the rocket up to the bicycle, and uses it to catch up to the paddywagon.
Realizing Kid Tannen is driving, Marty breaks Doc free.

That night, as Doc and Marty are about to go to 1986, Marty begins to fade from existence. The newspaper has been changed to show that Arthur McFly has been beaten, and was left for dead on the courthouse steps in retaliation for speaking with the district attorney as a result of answering his summons.
Doc and Marty travel to earlier that day to save Arthur.
Marty and Doc arrive from later that day. Marty, in pain from beginning to fade from existence, sneaks into the basement of the soup kitchen, which is being transformed into Kid Tannen's new speakeasy.
In the timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Marty arrives on Monday, August 17. He manages to catch Artie at the courthouse, and are able to take him to safety.
Marty knocks out two guards and causes another to be stranded upstairs. This allows him to take Arthur McFly, who is delirious due to the chloroform used on him, to the DeLorean.
Doc and Marty pretend they are undercover government agents to explain the DeLorean.

8:32 a.m:[71] Doc drops Marty off home and heads to the bank to try to stop the estate sale.
Marty discovers that his father has been paralyzed, and that the Tannen mob runs Hill Valley, just as the Tannen brothers arrive to collect protection money.
Marty knocks out the Tannen brothers, but the elderly Kid Tannen arrives in his limousine and points a gun at him.

Marty uses Emmett's work-in-progress rocket-powered car to rescue Emmett and capture Kid. After a brief flight, the car crashes to the ground while Kid falls onto the back of a manure truck.

2:15 p.m: Doc and Einstein are erased from existence as Marty arrives back from 1931, crashing the DeLorean into a billboard.
Marty sees Jennifer Parker, who is no longer dating his counterpart due to his striving to always be a good citizen, calling him a "square".

5:30 p.m: George cleans the playback heads of his tapes, and is attacked by Biff shortly after. Marty and George discover this, and Marty confronts Biff. This leads Marty to:

Marty is captured, and is thrown into the Citizen Plus ward. Second Citizen Brown orders that First Citizen Brown be subjected to the Citizen Plus treatment.

George McFly hacks into the Citizen Brown cameras and lets Marty talk to Jennifer through the camera.

November: After spending his entire family fortune and engaging in a shady deal with Lybian nationalists, Citizen Brown finishes repairing the DeLorean time machine and travels six months in the past to pick up Marty.
Citizen Brown arrives from six months into the future. He meant to return seconds after he left, but arrived minutes later. He begins to suspect something is wrong with the time circuits.
Edna is saddened, then becomes upset that Citizen Brown is helping Marty to change the past, telling him: "I own this town".
In the new timeline, Edna and Biff are killed when the bomb that Biff was holding blew up.
Citizen Brown tells Marty that he is going with him, as he needs to be there to correct the biggest mistake of his life.
1:00 p.m.: Edna showed a photo to Arthur McFly proving that Trixie Trotter wasn't a US citizen and got her fired from her job as host of the Science Expo.
Despite some setbacks, Marty managed to break up Edna Strickland and a young Emmett Brown, as well as getting the latter to follow his true interest in science.
Citizen Brown picked up a heartbroken Edna and proposed a plan to get her and Emmett back together.
Arthur married Trixie (real name Sylvia Miskin) so that she becomes a US citizen.
8:45 a.m.: Marty McFly brought the Static accumulator for Emmett Brown's experiment. On the way in, he ran into Citizen Brown who described the plan on changing his younger self's destiny. Marty, however, had to deal with an out of control Static accumulator before he could worry about Citizen Brown.
2:31 p.m.: Marty entered the Hill Valley Science Expo and received some tickets for the exhibits. While there, he found that Edna Strickland order Danny Parker to close Emmett's exhibit, and had to dig up some dirt on Edna before Danny could dismiss her orders. In addition, Emmett went missing.
Afterwards, Marty sets up a recorder in a phone booth to get evidence that Edna was the Speakeasy Arsonist and then presented it to Danny. Danny attempts to chase after her, leaving the exhibit free for reopening.
5:47 p.m.: Emmett Brown was ready to demonstrate the electrokinetic levitator only for his father, Judge Erhardt Brown, to demand calling off the experiment. After some help from Marty, the two come to an understanding, with Erhardt permitting the experiment to go through.
Marty's attention was diverted outside where Edna steals the Delorean to retreat, while accidentally running down Citizen Brown (who was starting to fade due to the change in the timeline). After seeing his new timeline, Citizen Brown fully vanished.
Emmett's invention was demonstrated in the Hill Valley Science Expo. It proved to be a failure, though Emmett is still determined to pursue science. He goes outside to inform Marty, who was shaken by the death of Citizen Brown. Emmett, due to his curiosity of Marty, demanded an explanation and is given a newspaper clip from May 15, 1986. Emmett was told not to look at the clip until he receives the key to the city. Emmett was confused, but agreed to do so, then went back into the High School.

She spends a month[72] using the name "Mary Pickford", in the time period as she found it to be more wholesome than Hill Valley of 1931. Her feeling of content doesn'</nowiki> t last as she discovers Beauregard Tannen's intent to build the Palace Saloon, and is angered that no one will stop him.
Monday, July 17: Edna sets fire to the Palace Saloon at 2:00 a.m. The fire gets out of control, and burns Hill Valley to the ground.
In the timeline that was created after Doc and Marty returned to 1986, the fire happened on Monday, April 3.
Date unknown: Distraught over her actions, "Mary Pickford" moves to a small house outside of the land that used to be Hill Valley, and becomes a recluse, being known to the local people as "Scary Mary".
Doc arrived in a Delorean after he finally looked at the newspaper clip. Their reunion was interrupted with William McFly who heard that Arthur McFly got hitched to a Canadian. Danny is talking to Doc and Marty, asking about where Edna went after seeing the DeLorean. He disappears from existence, followed by all of Hill Valley.
In the new timeline that was created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Doc arrived on Sunday, December 19. William McFly doesn't arrive, and Doc and Marty find out about the fire by reading a plaque dedicated to the destroyed Hill Valley.
William McFly arrives and tells them that he heard about a town that used to be there, and directs them to the home of "Scary Mary".
Doc realizes that Edna is suffering from repressed memories. Marty jogs her memory, and she shows them the paper that showed the date the town burned down.
Edna is about to shoot Marty and Doc with her rifle, when they are saved by William McFly, who has arrived as he had regrets about sending them to see Mary alone.
In the timeline that was created after Doc and Marty returned to Hill Valley, Doc and Marty arrive on Monday, April 3. They discover that Edna tied up the miner at Delgado Mine, who tells them that Edna wanted to celebrate the opening of a new saloon.
Edna attempts to set fire to the Palace Saloon. She is stopped by Marty, Doc, and Beauregard Tannen.
Edna escapes into the temporal duplicate DeLorean, and Marty and Doc chase after her in Doc's DeLorean.

William McFly states that he has come around to Arthur's quick wedding to Sylvia, as once he got a chance to know her, he discovered that he liked her.

In the new timeline created after Marty and Doc returned to 1986, Doc was declared the winner of the Cars of the Future contest. The judge of the contest saw the DeLorean fly away and disappear, which led him to begin drinking from a flask.
Date unknown: Doc and Clara move into Doc's garage, living part time in the 20th century, so that Doc can oversee the Erhardt Brown Scholarship for Young Scientists.
Edna arrives, as she is taking Einstein for his afternoon walk.

Doc introduces Marty as his protege, and Edna waves goodbye saying that she is going to watch a movie with her grand kids.

Doc built a new DeLorean time machine using a 386 computer to control advanced features of the new DeLorean, including spatial displacement, which allowed the new DeLorean to travel to any point in history, at any location on Earth. It also had a computer keyboard that was used to enter time periods and locations into the upgraded time circuits, and speech recognition, although the computer had difficulty understanding Doc Brown's voice commands.[75]
Doc traveled in the new DeLorean to April 4, 2007.
Wednesday, April 7: Doc arrived in the new DeLorean, and watched the "Visions of the Future" keynote at Microsoft's TechEd conference on the internet. He found the presentation to be disastrous, so he researched the history of Microsoft, then traveled to Orlando, Florida at 1:00 PM, 90 minutes after the keynote had started.
Wednesday, April 7, 1:00 PM: Doc told the senior vice president of Microsoft's Server and Tools business, Bob Muglia, that Microsoft's visions of the future had not been great. He then takes him back to March 9, 2001, to demonstrate what he meant.
Friday, March 9, 1:03 PM: Doc showed Bob Muglia a misstep that Microsoft had made in the past regarding the storing the storing of personal information on the internet. Doc then traveled to April 12, 2003 to show him more missteps.
Saturday, April 12, 4:12 PM: Doc showed Bob Muglia several missteps that Microsoft had made in regards to Microsoft's vision for the future of integrated storage. Doc then took Bob into the future to July 15, 2015.
Wednesday, July 15: Doc and Bob Muglia arrive in an alternate timeline where Microsoft's failed visions came true. Doc shows Bob that holograms of the Office Assistant and Microsoft Bob were now in control of everything. Bob was horrified by this future, so Doc then brought Bob Muglia back to 2007.
Wednesday, April 7, 11:30 AM: Doc and Bob Muglia arrived in time for Bob to give his keynote speech, which he altered based on Doc's advice. Doc then returned to the 1980s.
Dates unknown: The two young men who stole Doc's DeLorean time machine arrive in Hill Valley in 2015. They asked a police officer where they could find pizza, and she pointed them to a Pizza Hutrestaurant.[76]
They presumably returned the DeLorean to 1989, before Doc noticed it missing.
Jules Brown and Verne Brown began to live in the 1990s with their parents, the latter of whom had been living part time in the 20th century since 1986. The Brown family now lived in a farmhouse outside of Hill Valley.
Doc Brown upgraded the a new DeLorean with improved audio activation of the time circuits, and spatial displacement. This feature was also also installed into the Jules Verne train, allowed it to travel to any place on Earth at any time period, since Doc has improved upon the four digit year system of the original time circuits. This DeLorean also had the ability to transform into a suitcase, which prevented it from being stolen and allowed it to be hidden more easily.
Doc arrives in Old Stump, Arizona. Doc needs to repair the DeLorean, and gets access to a stable to do so.
A sheep farmer sees the DeLorean, but Doc covers it with a tarp and once again claims it is a weather experiment. The sheep farmer accepts his explanation, to Doc's relief.
Doc presumably repairs the DeLorean and returns to the 20th century.
Doc arrives, due to the spatial displacement in the new DeLorean, in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios, intending to capture everything on his JVC camcorder.
He arrives during the filming of a motion picture, and is told to leave, as he has arrived on a hot set. He then wanders around the Universal Studios Backlot, and records film of the studio where technicians, directors, and actors are performing their jobs.
He notes that he was able to do anything and see everything, so he was able to have an experience beyond that of usual theme park visitors. He records the animal actors arriving in a limousine for the Animal Actors On Location attraction. He was able to participate in the Murder, She Wrote Mystery Theatre attraction, where the attraction set visitors up as executive producers, demonstrating many things involved behind the scenes in making a Murder She Wrote episode, from directing, to sound effects and music.
He was having difficulty with the sound effects and music, and decided he needed a crash course in directing from a master. He arrived at the Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies attraction, and was put into makeup to appear as Norman Bates when he dressed up as his mother in Psycho. He then witnessed people being outfitted with horror makeup and prosthetics at the Horror Make-Up Store.
After that, he was able to become a ghostbuster on the Ghostbusters Spooktacular attraction, using a prop proton gun to shoot an image of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
He then rode The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera motion simulator ride with children. After that, he experienced the E.T. Adventure attraction, and got on a bicycle to recreate the scene from the film where Elliot and E.T. fly the bicycle with the moon rising behind them.
After he is back on solid ground, he finds that he is in the middle of the Earthquake: The Big One attraction, and the ground around him begins to break apart. He screams, and leaves the area, arriving at Kongfrontation. He screams the name of the attraction, and tries to jump away from King Kong and into the water below, but lands in a raft, finding that he is now at the Jaws ride.
After he manages to get himself out of the raft, he heads back to the DeLorean. He mentions that he has seen all of the rides at the park, but notes that he missed the Back to the Future attraction. Nonplussed, he decides that he has seen enough.
Doc begins traveling through time to meet celebrities, to use on the "Doc on the March" segment that will be shown on a film at the Institute of Future Technology, traveling to August 12, 1927.

The 8-passenger DeLorean was originally planned to be used to send Doc's time travel volunteers one day into the future, however Doc Brown used the sub-ether time-tracking scanner which allowed him to remotely pilot the 8-passenger DeLorean full of time travel volunteers to bump Biff's DeLorean to bring him back.

Biff's DeLorean stalls and begins to fall, but the 8-passenger DeLorean successfully bumps the back of Biff's DeLorean, sending both vehicles back to 1991.
The technicians at the Institute of Future Technology arrive in 1991, as does Biff.
Biff is apprehended and Doc is freed from the locked gate.

This timeline occurred when the technicians from the Institute of Future Technology brought Biff back to 1955 from 1991. (Back to the Future: The Ride and into the beginning of Brothers)
As they were captured by differing troops, Jules and Verne find themselves on opposite sides of the war.
Right before the battle, Jules and Doc make an electromagnet from an electric magnetic machine marketed to General Ulysses S. Clayton, to try to use it to attract all the weapons from both armies.
When the plan fails, Jules is thrown into the middle of the battlefield and Verne comes to protect him.
When both armies see this, they stop and admire the brothers' bonding. Brothers, cousins, and uncles from both sides begin to embrace one another and huddle together in the center of the battlefield. The soldiers realize that they are fighting their own brothers, cousins, uncles and nephews.
Both generals announce a truce, and General Beauregard Tannen's regiment is registered in history as never having fought in a single battle.
Marty, Doc, Jules, Verne and Einstein travel from 1864 to 1991.
Date unknown: Marty, Doc, Jules, Verne and Einstein returned to 1991.
Date unknown: Marty's lack of focus caused him to fail his exam, as he was supposed to learn about the Spanish Civil War rather than the American Civil War.
Date unknown: Marty played a trick on Doc's dog Einstein with his new sound effects key ring. He hit the button to make cat sounds, and Einstein chased him up a tree. He tried to show him that it wasn't a real cat, by pushing the button to make gunfire sounds, but Einstein continued jumping up and trying to attack him.
While Marty is bouncing on the trampoline, trying to get off, Doc walks by while Jules and Verne try to hide the fact that Einstein has been misbehaving. Verne accidentally comes right out with it, while Doc pretends not to hear.
However, once Clara lets everyone know that dinner is ready and Doc turns off the trampoline, he checks Einstein to see if he can determine if something is wrong with him. Despite Einstein's whining, Doc's quick check of Einstein's eyes hadn't come up with anything wrong. Doc then checks Einstein's nose, and is alarmed when he discovers that it is warm.
Doc uses an ophthalmoscope to check Einstein's eyes, finding lesions on both cornea. He consults a medical textbook and discovers that he has a rare eye disease. He sits Marty down on a machine that is a vision simulator. He shows Marty the difference between normal vision, and Einstein's impaired vision. When Marty says that the second image makes everything look like cats, Doc quips that Einstein suffers from cat-aracts.
He consults the medical textbook, and learns that the cure is a byproduct of fermenting juniper berries.
Doc quickly sets up a machine to work as an alcohol distillery, but the machine explodes as, in Doc's haste to improvise the machine, he put the relief valve on backwards.
When Clara suggests going to the time of prohibition, Marty asks her how she could know about it, as she wasn't born yet. She quips that she has been reading ahead in her history books.
Marty grabs juniper berries from Clara's pantry, and Doc heads with Marty into the DeLorean, informing Jules and Verne that they must stay behind as the time period to which they are travelling is too dangerous for children.
Using the spatial displacement enabled time circuit control pad, Doc sets the destination for the south side of Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1927.

This timeline occurred when Marty and Doc traveled from 1991 to 1927. (The Gang's All Here)
Doc parks the DeLorean perpendicularly in an alley, and uses a switch to convert the DeLorean into a suitcase. Marty struggles to pick the suitcase up, and Doc tells him it weighs 2,014 pounds.
A Benedict mob gunsel fires a tommy gun down the alley at a rival gunsel, with Marty and Doc caught in the middle. Doc tells Marty to let him do all the talking, as the 1920s are very different from their time period. Marty ignores Doc's advice and taps a man on the shoulder, asking him where he can get a drink. The man, turns around, revealing himself to be a police officer. Doc tries to explain, however the officer finds Marty's key ring in his pocket. He pushes the button that makes a raspberry noise, and the police officer locks Marty up in prison, thinking that he was insulting him.
A man in the cell with him calls Marty a butthead, and he mistakes him for Biff. It turns out he is the gangster "Mugsy" Tannen. Mugsy mistakes Marty for "Bathtub Jim" McFly, thinking that he got a haircut and changed his clothes in an effort to run away from his boss, Arnie "Eggs" Benedict.
At the police station, Doc accidentally tries to pay Marty's bail with coins from 1985. The desk sergeant states that the coins are unlike anything he has ever seen, as they have someone on the front of them that looks like Governor Roosevelt from New York. He then arrests Doc on the charge of counterfeiting currency.
A large man named "Battleship" Potempkin is about to beat Marty, when Doc steps in and tells him that they have him mistaken for someone else. He says that Marty is "Bathtub Jim" McFly's cousin, "Zipper" McFly, the head of one of the biggest organized crime families on the east coast.
Mugsy orders "Battleship" Potempkin to release Marty, as he doesn't want trouble with another mob. Doc tells Mugsy that when his boss comes to bail them out, to have him bail himself and Marty out as well. "Eggs" Benedict tells Marty and Doc that he's heard they are heavy hitters, and tells them to meet him that night at his speakeasy.
Doc agrees to go, as he needs "Bathtub Jim" McFly's help as brew master to make the serum for Einstein. At the speakeasy, Eggs Benedict recognizes the name Dr. Brown, to Marty's astonishment. Doc tells him that he doesn't brew celery tonic anymore, saying that he now brews hooch. Due to his familiarity with Doc, he offers Marty and Doc a cut of his operation in exchange for their protection against a local mob.
Doc tells them that they'll consider it if they can see the operation, specifically the distillery. While Doc is inspecting the distillery, Marty speaks with Jim McFly. He tells Marty that he doesn't want to be a brew master, and would rather be a pharmacist. Mugsy says that he can't leave until he brews his invention, a lite gin with half the calories, but all of the flavor of regular gin. Marty states that it's an interesting idea, if a little ahead of its time.
Back at the speakeasy, Marty dumps his cup, while Doc drinks his, causing him to pass out. A rival gangster comes in, shooting up the place. No one is hurt, but Eggs and Mugsy are shaken. Mugsy tells Jim McFly that he has changed the deal, and he is now part of the Benedict mob for life.
That night, in a hotel room, Doc wakes up in bed. Marty tells him that he has been out for a few hours, when there is a knock at the door. Jim McFly is there, telling Marty that he needs his help. He wants Marty to talk to Eggs Benedict, to convince him to let Jim out of the mob. Marty tells him that he has a plan on how to do that, by scaring Benedict with his key ring.
At the distillery, Doc and Jim use the juniper berries to make the serum for Einstein. Eggs and Mugsy show up, telling them that no one on the east coast had ever heard of Zipper McFly. Marty pushes a button on the keyring, making a bomb sound, which confuses the mobsters, who wonder if it is an air raid. He hits the button for the siren sound, and Eggs thinks it is a police raid. Marty uses the pipes to disguise his voice, and pretends to be the police. Using the button to make a gunfire sound, Marty starts imitating a shootout. After several minutes of this, he pretends that the police are retreating, claiming that the McFly gang is too tough.
Marty enters the distillery, and tells Eggs and Mugsy that he is heading back east, as it is obvious that they don't want his protection. He tells them to let Jim out of the gang, or else the McFlys will be back to make a few omelettes. After he leaves, Eggs tells Battleship to teach Mugsy a lesson for giving him false information.
Date unknown: Doc and Marty return, and feed Einstein the serum. The serum acts quickly, and Einstein is soon back to his old self.
Date unknown: Without consulting his family, Doc takes Jules, Verne, Clara, and Einstein back to 1367 to escape the technology that he feels his family is so reliant upon.
Timeline 58
This timeline occurred when Doc, Clara, Jules, Verne, and Einstein traveled from 1991 to 1367. (A Family Vacation)
The DeLorean takes off, on its own, as Doc pre-programmed it to leave, then to come back at sunset.
Since he got rid of their only way home, Doc angers Clara, and Jules and Verne. They all go their separate ways.
Clara is kidnapped by the evil Lord Biffingham of Tannenshire, and Doc is thrown into a dungeon.
Jules and Verne meet up with Harold McFly, whose lady love, Jennivere, has also been kidnapped by Lord Biffingham.
The boys and Harold arrive at the castle in time to witness a jousting match between the Lord and Doc.
Clara escapes from the tower and makes a hot air balloon out of silk and a tapestry loom.
Clara rescues Doc and foils Biffingham's evil scheme.
Doc realizes that he should consult her before making anymore decisions for the family. Harold and Jennivere patch things up, and decide to leave England. Doc suggests Ireland.
Clara, Jules, Verne, and Einstein head back to 1991.
Doc, Jules and Verne arrive, but are chased by a Tyrannosaurus. A friendly Pteranodon (whom Verne nicknames "Donnie"), helps them escape.
That night, they finally set up to run the test. Jules spots a shooting star, which is actually a large meteor, heading toward earth. Doc zaps it with his redistributor and destroys the meteor, thus saving Earth, but the car battery has been drained due to Verne watching a videotape during the test.
Jules spots a grove of lemon trees. Doc and Verne use copper, aluminum, and the lemons to generate 12 volts for the battery.
The car battery is charged enough for the DeLorean to start, so Doc, Jules and Verne travel back to 1991.
Doc, Jules, and Verne arrive, but realize that the landscape has not changed, and that highly evolved dinosaurs have developed their own civilization.
The video of Marty playing his guitar disappears, causing Doc, Jules, and Verne to head back in time before they are erased from existence as well.
Timeline 60
This timeline occurs when Doc, Jules, and Verne traveled from 1991 to 3000000 B.C. (Forward to the Past,animated episode and comic, and into Witchcraft)
Doc realizes that they must restore the meteor and allow it to impact with the Earth, even though it means that the pteranodon that saved them will be headed toward extinction with the rest of the dinosaurs.
Doc, Jules, and Verne return from 3000000 B.C. Verne is heart-broken about the death of Donnie, but upon seeing a little bird that resembles the pteranodon, he wonders if Donny's descendants might continue to live into the 20th century.
Doc created a scratch and listen postcard, which would allow the sender to record their voice, and by scratching the card, the receiver was able to hear the message.
Doc upgrades the new DeLorean to be controlled via remote, adds a pincer which is capable of picking up large objects, and adds a floatation device that activates once the DeLorean is under water.
Doc, Jules, Verne, and Clara traveled to Egypt in 1000 BCE in the Jules Verne train.

This timeline occurs when Doc, Jules, Verne, and Clara travel from 1991 to 1000 BCE. (Witchcraft)
Doc, Jules, Verne, and Clara arrive in Egypt from 1991. Verne vandalized the Sphinx which caused the residents of Egypt to chase the Brown family. They attempted to make an aerial escape with the Jules Verne train, but a spear thrown by the Egyptians damaged the train's flux capacitor and sent the train to 1692.
Dates unknown: Doc, Jules, Verne, and Clara arrive in Salem, Massachusetts from 1000 BCE. The flux capacitor is beyond contemporary repair, so the Brown family takes up residence in Salem.
To pay for their stay, Doc works as a trash man for Goodman Tannen.
Doc creates a scratch and listen postcard and sends the remote control mail delivery time machine to Hill Valley, which is addressed to Marty in 1991.
Date unknown: Marty suspects that Jennifer is cheating on him with a college jock named Kelp. He doesn't listen to her explanation and heads to the Brown residence. When he arrives, he discovers the remote control mail delivery time machine, and listens to the message on the postcard. He then takes the DeLorean to Salem on September 23, 1692.
Timeline 62
This timeline occurs when Marty travels from 1991 to 1692. (Witchcraft and the setup of Roman Holiday, television episode and comic)
Marty arrives in Salem and crashes into a lake. The DeLorean sinks to the bottom, but an inflatable device brings it back to the surface, after which Doc guides the DeLorean to a hideout with a remote control.
Tannen's daughter Mercy shows up at a town event that night.
Marty's wild antics and strange manner of talking create gossip in the town and after he plays his harmonica, he is labeled a witch and put on trial.
Marty is ordered to suffer the water test, which will determine whether or not he is lying, with either consequence being death.
As Marty is thrown into the water, Goodman, Mercy, and the others watch as they believe he is drowning.
Meanwhile, Marty is rescued underwater by the DeLorean via the large pincer. Marty and the Browns return to the train and take both vehicles back to 1991.
Marty and the Brown family return from 1692. Jennifer tells Marty that she and Kelp were only study partners and that Marty was still her boyfriend. Marty apologizes to Jennifer for making accusations without first hearing her side of the story.
Doc heads to 36 A.D. to pick up architectural plans for study.

Doc takes Marty back to 36 A.D. to return the plans and to show him the Roman arcades. Jules and Verne think he's talking about a video game arcade, and stowaway in the DeLorean.

This timeline occurs when Doc, Marty, Jules, and Verne travel from 1991 to 36 A.D. (Roman Holiday, television episode and comic, and into Go Fly a Kite)
Doc is mistaken for a rebellious slave and is sentenced to be thrown to the lions.
Jules and Verne boys run amok in Ancient Rome and end up meeting Judah, a slave, who helps them get out of trouble.
Doc tells Marty to purposefully lose the chariot race, since the popularity of Antanneny is critical to the rise of Caligula to Emperor of Rome, which is a key event that leads to the downfall of the Roman empire.
Doc equips Marty's chariot with a drag chute, so that he is sure to lose the race.
Doc uses his holographic device to avoid being eaten by the lion.
Verne and Jules help Judah, who reveals his full name as Judah Ben Hur, to become a free man.
Jules teases Verne by telling him that since he's not as smart as Jules and doesn't look like Doc or Clara, he must be adopted. Verne uses Doc's photo invention to find a picture of himself and erroneously concludes that Benjamin Franklin is his biological father. He then takes the DeLorean to 1752.
Timeline 65
This timeline occurs when Verne travels from 1991 to 1752. (Go Fly a Kite)
Due to Verne's meddling in the past, the electricity turns off in Hill Valley. Jules tells his father what he said, and Doc looks at his experiment to see Benjamin Franklin. He concludes that all electrical devices will be erased from existence if the timeline cannot be repaired.
Doc and Marty head back to 1752 in the Jules Verne train to retrieve Verne.
Doc arrives and saves Verne from falling off a clock tower, and Verne realizes that Doc is his biological father. Doc adds that, although Verne isn't adopted, Doc would love Verne just as much if he were adopted.
Doc and Marty use smoke, water and static electricity to create a simulated thunderstorm so that Franklin can conduct his kite-flying experiment.
With the timeline repaired, Doc, Marty, and Verne head back to 1991.
Doc and Marty arrive from 1991 and are captured by the vile conquistador Biffando de la Tanén and his goons. Biffando releases them and follows them at a distance, to the lost City of Gold.
Marty and Doc are captured by Incan natives and are put in a large pit with hundreds of the acidic frogs. With that many frogs, Doc says that he and Marty will "melt like the Wicked Witch of the West."
Using a tuning fork, Doc makes the frogs go crazy, which makes it look like Marty can control the frogs, leading the Incans to release Doc and Marty. They also succeed in stoppping Biffando from stealing any gold.
Doc and Marty take a couple of frogs back to 1991.
Marty and Doc return with the frogs, which Doc intends to use to reestablish the population in the 20th century. One of the frogs was used to cure Marty's athlete's foot.
Doc goes to the hardware store, and the DeLorean is stolen by two men who have just robbed the Hill Valley Savings & Loans, with Einstein asleep in the back seat.
One of the thieves, Sidney, asks the other, Frankie, how much they managed to get away with. Frankie sorts through the money, and counting $1,790 he replies, "Seventeen-ninety, Sidney!" This accidentally activates the voice activated time circuits, which sends the DeLorean to Sydney, Australia in 1790.
Timeline 68
This timeline occurs when Einstein, Sydney, and Frankie travel from 1991 to 1790 Einstein's Adventure and into Batter Up!)
The DeLorean arrives from 1991. The two startled bank robbers end up accidentally breaking into an Australian prison, ran by Warden Mungo P. Tannen. Meanwhile, Einstein is thrown out of the DeLorean on impact.
Einstein saves the bank robbers from the prison, and the three head back to the DeLorean, then back to 1991.
Marty, Jules and Verne arrive in Boston, Massachusetts on the day before Pee Wee threw ball that made the Beaneaters lose the pennant.
They head to the baseball field and discover that Pee Wee McFly pitching that game as well, with Boston leading the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4. Marty inadvertently interferes with history when he yells "Hey, cousin!" to the pitcher, who is distracted and knocked unconscious by a baseball.
Using Doc's inventions, as well as a fake mustache, Marty impersonates Pee Wee and wins the game.
Instead of being thankful, Pee Wee is terrified, as he is being pressured to throw the games by Diamond Jim Tannen, a Boston gangster who has bet on Baltimore to win the pennant.
Diamond Jim warns Pee Wee to lose the next day's game, or face serious injury. When Marty casually says "Get out of town!" to his 1897 relative, Pee Wee takes the advice to heart and hops on a streetcar on its way out of Boston.
Marty impersonates Pee Wee again, and with Doc's invention, he helps Boston take the lead. Realizing that the pitcher isn't throwing the game, Diamond Jim rushes the field and attacks Marty until the police take him away.
Marty is uninjured, but Doc's inventions have been damaged and the malfunctioning glasses cause him to become disoriented.
Thanks to Marty's bad pitching, Baltimore takes an 10-9 lead, and the McFly name is once more destined for ruin.
Pee Wee, who had contemplated sailing back to his native Ireland, overhears children talking about his quitting. Not wanting to disappoint them, he decides to play the game after all.
He returns to the stadium, takes over from Marty, and wins the game and the 1897 National League pennant.
Marty, Jules and Verne return from 1897, and play a game of baseball.
Marty hits the ball for a home run, but also destroys a shop window in Hill Valley. Doc Brown, in the shop at the time, leaves before anyone can blame his family for the destruction.
Monday, April 1:
For April Fool's Day, Jules and Verne sabotage many of Doc's inventions, including his Brain-wave analyzer. After using the tampered machine, Doc thinks he has used up 99.9% of his brain and retires from science.
After many attempts at seeking other employment, such as parking cars, mowing lawns, and making pizzas, he goes back in time to the Cro-Magnon period.
Marty, Jules and Verne travel to the Cro-Magnon period as well, to convince Doc to come home.
Doc unsuccessfully tried to show the Cro-Magnon people how to make fire.
After he made a wheel, Doc realized that the urge to invent was too strong, and decided to go back to 1991 to attend the concert that Marty and The Pinheads were performing, as he considered that "mindless" entertainment.
Doc returns from the Pleistocene period to attend Marty's concert.
Marty has "borrowed" one of Doc's tampered inventions - the Environmental Adjuster - to create special effects for the concert, and in doing so, accidentally creates a catastrophic rainstorm and flood.
After accidentally tearing up the curtain, when Marty lands into the water along with Jules and Verne, Doc decides to use his remaining "0.01%" of his brain to get everyone out of danger.
After being rescued, Jules and Verne confess to their pranks, and Doc returns to his life of science.
July: The Brown family complains about the July heat, so Doc takes them, and Marty, to 1845 to cool off and to celebrate a "Dickens" Christmas.
The Brown Family and Marty arrive in London. Doc entrusts Jules with his pocket watch, which has the key to the DeLorean attached to it.
When Clara, Doc and Marty go inside Fedgewick's Toys, Reg, a young pickpocket, steals the watch from Jules, and the boys pursue the thief.
The boys are caught by Murdock, the Fagin-like leader of the pickpockets, and are forced to join the group.
While Doc and Marty go to look for them, Ebiffnezer Tannen, who holds the mortgage on the toy shop, throws the shopkeeper, his family and Clara into debtor's prison.
Doc and Marty rescue the boys and decide to teach Ebiffnezer a lesson on humanity by having Marty dressed up as the Ghost of Christmas, with flying effects created by the hoverboard.
July: The Brown family and Marty return from 1845.
Date unknown: Jules and Verne want to participate in the Father-Son Big Mouth Bass-Off, but discover that their father has a fear of fishing due to falling into a river while fishing as a child in 1926. Jules, Verne, and Marty go back to 1926 to prevent that accident from occurring.
Timeline 72
This timeline occurred when Jules, Verne, and Marty travel from 1991 to 1926 (Gone Fishin' and into Solar Sailors)
Jules, Verne and Marty arrive in Milwaukee Wisconsin, at the home of Oliver Brown, Emmett's uncle, who had custody of the young Emmett for the summer.
They prevented the original accident, which caused Marty to fall into the river instead. However, when Emmett cast his line, it got caught on a low flying stunt biplane flown by Roris Von Hinklehuffins.
Emmett's stunt was recorded, and he was heralded as "Daredevil Brown". Uncle Oliver realized that Emmett could bring in a lot of money, so he signed a deal to have Emmett become a famous silent film star, doing crazy stunts around the country.
When he arrived in Hollywood, movie producer D.W. Tannen proposed a very dangerous stunt, going over Niagara Falls in a barrel, but promised that a dummy would take Emmett's place.
In reality, Tannen planned on keeping Emmett in the barrel for the "realistic" look.
Verne saved his father by taking his place in the barrel. Using a handheld portable flux capacitor, Verne arrived on dry land in the barrel when its fall approached the speed of eighty-eight miles per hour.
Oliver realized that he had put Emmett's life in danger by blindly accepting that the people in charge of the stunts cared about Emmett's well-being, so he put an end to Emmett's short film career, and allowed Emmett to continue on a path of science.
Marty, Jules and Verne return from 1926, and discover that their father is all set to take his sons to the Father-Son Big Mouth Bass-Off, as he no longer has a fear of fishing.
Doc and Clara celebrate their anniversary, and Jules and Verne give them gifts.
Jules finishes his invention, the JEB Cross-Time Headliner, which prints a newspaper from any date in time. He discovered that the solar sail shipMSC Marty would be traveling to Mars. He used a fax machine, a flux capacitor, and Doc's credit card to send a fax forward in time to book his parents on the flight.
Doc and Clara travel to 2091 to take their cruise.
Jules gets another headline from 2091, stating that the MSC Marty was lost in space.
Jules and Verne travel to 2091 to save Doc and Clara.
Jules and Verne arrive and are brought to the space center by a taxicab, but a problem in paying the fare keeps them from reaching the ship in time. Minutes later, the solar sail collapses, and the MSC Marty becomes adrift in space.
Jules and Verne gain admission to the McFly Museum of Aeronautics by sneaking in with a group of fifth graders from Dan Quayle Elementary School. Inside the museum, they see the MSC Jennifer, the first solar-sail spaceship.
Jules proved that the MSC Marty has been sabotaged by removing the bolt, and that Ziff Tannen had committed the crime.
Jules and Verne are able to borrow the MSC Jennifer to rescue the stranded space cruise ship.
Doc, Clara, Jules and Verne return to 1991.

This timeline occurs when the Brown family travels from 2091 to 1991 (Solar Sailors and into the live action scenes of the animated series)
Doc enlisted Bill Nye to help him create a video encyclopedia, using video files that showed the viewers how to perform an action or create something for scientific value or understanding.
Doc recorded himself in his lab, as a preface to these videos. He told stories, about his family's trips through time, that corresponded with the video encyclopedia clips.
