The Atlas House of Glass was an exhibit made for the Hill Valley Science Expo of 1931. It was an idea for what a house of the future may be and was one of the more popular ones. The exhibit required one ticket to enter.
Appearance and Functions
Most all of the walls of the house were soundproof and supposedly unbreakable. They were connected to a metal frame. The glass was slightly tinted blue. Most of the walls were set on tracks and could slide in and out, creating the privacy of a small room or a large, spacious banquet hall. The walls also served as doors and could be slide open by way of a small metal panel at the end. Some of the walls were made of glass, but most were opaque and brightly colored.
The house had two floors. Most of the floor on the second level was opaque, but certain areas allowed one to see down to the lower level.
Specifically for the exhibit, there was also a wooden wall which doubled as a passage into the Future Furnishings exhibit.
While attempting to keep Marty McFly from saving the future and his friend Emmett Brown from an alternate timeline, an older version of Brown from that timeline tried to abduct his younger self. Brown lead his 17-year-old version into the Atlas House of Glass, where he knocked him out with chloroform. Marty, who had followed the pair into the exhibit, helplessly watched through several glass walls as the older Brown dragged his unconscious self out of the house. Marty, after spending precious minutes navigating a way out by moving several walls, also exited, where he found himself in the Future Furnishings exhibit.
After Marty's plan succeeded and the young Brown was saved from his older self, the House of Glass was accidentally destroyed when Emmett's electrokinetic levitator flew into it, resulting in an explosion, a mess of glass and Emmett being banned from the expo for the next 50 years. This did not deter him at all, however, and the future ran its course on the right track.
- Exposing Edna Strickland as the speakeasy arsonist before entering the House of Glass can result in the player being stuck upon entering as the cursor doesn't respond. It can be remedied by reloading the save file.
